MPC 26 Highlights: Chen, Aido, Cheung win Trophies. Lin Defeated
Here are some highlights of the Macau Poker Cup (MPC), a 17 day Festival running from February 3-19, 2017 at PokerStars Live Macau.
Celina Lin one spot short of making history
In a surprising turn of events, Feng Wen Chen defeated the Queen of Asian Poker Celina Lin in the Baby Dragon Event which had a buy-in of HK$8,000. PokerStars Team Asia Pro Lin, who had previously won 2 Red Dragon Events, wanted to make history once again by winning another Dragon title. But alas, Lin’s lowest pair didn’t hold when Chen got a Q to complete his gutshot straight for the win.
Chen took home HK$915,000 ($117,919) for outlasting a field of 602 players, breaking the record of participation in precious years. This is Chen’s biggest cash earning in his poker career.

Park Yu “Sparrow” Cheung wins HK$50,000 No Limit Hold’em Event
Park Yu “Sparrow” Cheung, President of the HKPPA and 8thin Hong Kong’s All Time Money List, won the HK$50,000 No Limit Event which had a total participation of 101 players. This is the first time this event is being hosted at the MPC.
Heads-up, Cheung made a deal with Raghav Bansal, ranked 7thin India’s All Time Money List, to alter the payout between the 1stand the 2ndplace.
In the end, Cheung took home the coveted trophy and HK$981,500 ($126,489) while Bansal took HK$1,067,500 ($137,572) for 2ndplace.

Sergio Aido from Spain wins the Single Day High Roller Event
Sergio Aidotook down the HK$100,000 Single Day High Roller Event winning a whopping HK$2,074,000($267,290) for his efforts. And great effort was what he put in when he ensured he didn’t concede his 3-1 chip lead to Yuan Li from China in an 80 minute heads-up game.
Outlasting 81 players, Aido’s cash earnings on this event was definitely a good addition to what he earned last year when he placed 3rdin 2 events in last year’s Triton Super High Roller Series – the Main Event for HK$6,580,900 ($848,557) and the HK$200,000 No Limit Hold’em Event for HK$1,129,400 ($145,631).
