Meet your WPT Sanya Final 9
The Final Table of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Sanya is set to clash starting tomorrow (November 21st) at 12:00NN (local time) with a new champion to be crowned and the top prize of $242,555 still at stake.
But before the finale, let’s get to meet the nine players who will engage in the last showdown.
Qian Zhi Qiang, 36, Professional Poker Player from Shanghai – 1st (5,255,000 in chips)—Seat 4
He is perhaps the second most decorated player in the finale with a title in the 2016 ACOP (the HK$11,000 NLHE Turbo Championship) and has also finished second overall in the 2016 CPG China Championships (one of the biggest tournaments in the country). Most of his ten career cashes were in Macau.
Huang Deng Dong, 35, Professional Poker Player from Fu Zhou – 2nd (4,475,000)—Seat 5
With no reported wins in the international circuit, this online practitioner has been among the more aggressive and intimidating players all week long and his looking to carry that all the way to the championship.
Tang Ying, 27, IT Practitioner from Yang Zhou – 3rd (2,985,000)—Seat 9
Having only learned the game just six months ago, this mathematics wizard is using her talent with numbers and understanding of probability to the hilt and is the last woman left in the competition.
Chen Ke, 32, Businessman from Wen Zhou – 4th (2,195,000)—Seat 6
Not to be mistaken for the WPT Beijing runner-up, this Chen Ke actually held the second largest stack at the end of Day 3 and has been using his skills as a three-year online grinder to get the best of his competition. He has shown tremendous poise in one of his rare live events.
Li Guang Yu, 38, Car Club CEO from Beijing – 5th (1,970,000)—Seat 2
Li rose to iconic status after his 2015 conquest of the Red Dragon tournament followed by his taking down the Macau Poker Cup High Roller event a mere hours later. But in spite of his international success over the last two years (with cashes in Macau, Monte Carlo, Korea and Spain), Li has only managed only one score this year. His confided that his dream is to win a WPT crown. This is his best chance.
Li Cheng Bei, 35, Fund Manager from Shanghai – 6th (1,960,000)—Seat 1
Li has silently built an impressive resume in 2017; recently winning the WPT Jeju Monster Stack event last September, finishing second in the Asian Poker League (APL) Main Event last April and scoring heavily in Macau during the Macau Poker Cup. Winning a major title is next on his agenda and now has a decent shot to get that done.
Chen Sui Yu, 33, Freelancer from Chengdu – 7th (1,770,000)—Seat 3
Although Chen only has two cashes in his involvement in poker, he is slowly amassing the necessary experience points to finally make that breakthrough. His recent sortie in the United States landed him his first international cash when he finished in eleventh place in the Rio Daily Deepstacks last July.
Fu Peng, 44, Hotel Manager from Sanya – 8th (645,000)—Seat 7
Despite being one of the short stacks, Fu has two things working for him: the hometown advantage and him being the most senior at the Final Table. As a non-professional, he was able to take down the 2016 Boyaa Poker Tournament All-Star side event and had a deep run in this year’s Red Dragon in Macau.
Hu Ling Fei, 38, Businessman from Hai Kou – 9th (590,000)—Seat 8
Hu learned to play the game just about two years ago and has qualified for his major tournament in the process from his experience online. Finding his way this deep into a major event add to his growing vault and he could just be one or two double-ups away from getting into serious contention for the title.
