Andres Korn triumphs in first ever WPT National Thailand

Chaar-Lee discovered poker over 20 years ago, starting with fixed-limit games before embracing the rise of No-Limit Hold’em across cash games, STTs, and MTTs. In the early days, he and his circle sometimes played more than 40 different formats in a single night. He organized the first poker camp in his region and has contributed poker technology to several televised shows. Today, he supports the SOMUCHPOKER team from the tech side, blending two decades of poker passion with technical expertise.

The very first WPT National Thailand held from Dec. 22-28, 2016 at Holiday Palace Resort in Poipet, Cambodia, has recently ended.

The number of entries totaled 57 players. Organizers attribute the turnout to the fact that the event happened during Christmas time when most people spend time with their families; and with the unfamiliarity to the location. They expect a larger crowd at the WPT National Cambodia which begins on January 2-13, 2017 at the Queenco Casino Sihanoukeville.

The buyin for the Main Event was 34,000 THB + 3,400 (approx. US$1,000) for a prize pool of 1,860,480 THB (approx. $ 51,089). The winner of the Main Event was Andres Korn from Argentina for 632,680 THB (approx. US$17,000). Korn plays the Latin American circuits and has been victorious in the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) Events. At 2^nd place was Vincent Chauve, an online grinder based in Thailand and a familiar face in Asian live circuits.
