APC Da Nang: An Un Song tops Main Event Day 1A; three entry heats remain – ₫8 Billion (~$337K) gtd prize pool

Chaar-Lee discovered poker over 20 years ago, starting with fixed-limit games before embracing the rise of No-Limit Hold’em across cash games, STTs, and MTTs. In the early days, he and his circle sometimes played more than 40 different formats in a single night. After 13.5 hours of play, Day 1A of the APC Da NangMAIN EVENT concluded with the first batch of Day 2 qualifiers established. Leading the seven player lineup was Korea’s An Un Song with a 39 BB stack. With no prior cashes to his name, Song may well be a newcomer to the Vietnam live scene. One of the hands that helped Song build his stack was a set of Threes over an opponent’s top pair Aces.

Just behind the leader was fellow countryman Jin Yun Bae with a 37 BB stack, and finishing in the top three was well known Vietnamese player Ta Khanh Linh aka Jack Risk with 34 BB. Linh delivered the bubble to mark the end of Day 1A. On a board that completed , Linh and a short stacked player were all in on the flop. Linh’s two pair held to dust missed draw.

The first Asia Poker Championship in Vietnam has been buzzing up the newly opened Dragon Poker Club since February 27 and will do so until March 5. On its third day, the spotlight shined on the festival’s star attraction, the ₫8,000,000,000 (~$337,000) guaranteed Main Event. After nine levels of registration, a surprisingly light turnout of 56 entered with 7 later reaching ITM.
