More live felt excitement to erupt in Taiwan with the arrival of the first ever GPI Asia Poker Festival this April. Since 2018, Taiwan has been one of the most sought after locations for many land based poker groups, and having arrested the novel coronavirus early on, players in the area have had the privilege of shuffling chips on the live green. Last year alone witnessed five action packed festivals which included the World Poker Tour hosting its WPTDeepstacks Taiwan festival after a few postponements. This year, region brand Asian Poker Tour held its first live festival in a year with APT Taiwan 2021 taking place in early March. It is important to note that while all events were open to everyone, due to the pandemic, the tables were filled with mostly locals… which makes the upcoming event quite apt.
Coming next month, the locals will see another live event buzzing the felt. Taking place from April 8 to 18 is the inaugural GPI Asia Festival. The 11 day festivity will be held at the highly popular Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) in Taipei City. The festival is the first of its kind with four varied tournaments merging to create one big poker series.
During the games, GPI Asia and The Hendon Mob have teamed up for the THM Championship. This is the first time the event will be held in Asia. GPI Asia will also be hosting the GPI Masterboard Award Ceremony. It will be the third year of the ceremony. In addition to awarding the top three players in points accrued in the Taiwan Region and the top player of each CTP Club branch, a new award will be presented under Taiwan’s most popular poker YouTuber. Here’s a breakdown of the activities to expect at the festival.
