Zhang Lirui clinches WPT Opener title!
Following nearly three hours of final table gameplay, China’s Zhang Lirui secured the victory after defeating Australia’s Ai Rex Hunt in heads up play. Zhang started the heads up duel with 2:1 advantage and locked in the win in just under an hour. The final hand saw Ai all-in with A♦ K♣ against Zhang’s A♥ J♣ . Whilst dominated, Zhang continued his run good and locked in the win on board A♠ J♠ 9♥ J♦ 8♣ .

WPT Opener Day 1A drew in a total of 68 entries with only nine players guaranteed a spot into Day 2. It took over eight hours on the felt before the day wrapped up with Iakimenko Anton holding down the top spot. Iakimenko was already ahead of the pack but added a third of his stack after delivering the bubble.
