Nguyen Chanh Tin Leads Won Poker Cup Main Event #2 Day1A

Level 15: 3,000 / 5,000 ante: 5,000

After 15 levels of play, Nguyen Chanh Tin lead the remaining 22 players of Day1A with 388,000 chips bagged. Especially in the final levels, the chips were just changing hands between the top 10 players of the field. But the ones that came under the radar that were Ilya Firstov, Armon Van Wijk and Elena Penzina, who managed to bag 293,000, 252,000 and 230,000 respectively.

We reached the table as Li Qing Lin at big blind threw in his time bank card at Johnny Leong's all-in shove. After another time card was threw in, Lin finally made the call.


Tabling their cards Lin was ahead with 10c 10d while Leong had A 7.


Board unfurled to show 3 A 3 K K. And Leong rakes the pot in.

We reached the table amid a lot of cheering and shouting to find Steenman and an unknown player about to head out of the floor all-in with the former holding A Q and the latter with pocket 4 4 on a flop of 4 Q J A A.

Van Wijk Steals the Blinds to Make Day2

Level 14: 2,000 / 4,000 ante: 4,000

Armon Van Wijk at the button saw an opportunity to add to his small stack at the 2nd to the last level of the day.


When everyone folded to the dealer button, Van Wijk, with a little less than average stack, looked at the blinds stacks, the clock, his stack and finally decided to steal the blinds by raising 10,000 into the pot. This was enough equity to make the 2 blinds fold after.

Lixi Shows Strength Against the Boys

Yu Lixi found herself in a pot with Trung Doang Quang in big blind and Wang Su Chong where all limped the pot.


Everyone checked the flop that revealed K 2 J. Turn showed 4 and Quang bet 8,000 which was enough to make Chong fold. Lixi, behind a huge stack, raised 25,000 pushing the last man in the hand out of her way.

Zou Decreases the Field Further

Action was folded to an unknown player in midposition who raised the pot to 7,000 . Zou re-raised to 22,000 which got an immediate all-in shove from the unknown player.


Tabling their hole cards, the unknown player revealed A K while Zou held pocket 9 9.


Zou's pockets held when the community cards displayed 2 J 3 5 2, in the process eliminating another player from the event.

Lindop Wins Pot Again

After a couple of hands, we found Fluffy Ho and Alex Lindop face to face at the river with the former in small blind and the latter in big blind.


The board displayed Q 4 2 5 T. Ho checked to Lindop who pushed 45,000 chips towards the pot. Ho checked his cards, and asked for time twice. After much consideration, Ho folds his hand to Lindop

Lindop 3-Bets Siong Out of Pot

Level 13: 2,000 / 3,000 ante: 3,000

Fluffy Ho called the blinds before Alex Lindop raised to 6,000 at mid. Akon Lau Hiat Siong called the raise as well as Ho.


Flop read K K 5 which Ho checked to the initial raiser. Lindop fired another 6,000 which was re-raised by Siong to 17,000. Ho got out of the way of the 2 players with a significant stack. After much thought, Lindop re-raised Siong to 51,000 who considered his chip stack before folding his hand.

Ganchao Played it Safe Against 2nd in Chips

Under the gun, Ganchao limped to Ye Xian Bao, who behind a twin tower of chips raised to 8,500. Everyone folded back to Ganchao who made the call.


The board read 8 2 9 4 A with both players checking all the way to the river. Ganchao showed A Q in the hand to which Bao threw his cards to the muck upon seeing.

In a preflop hand, everyone folded to Fluffy Ho at midposition and was called by Akon Lau Hiat Siong at the button. Quang Huy Nguyen at small blind took the opportunity to win the pot by shoving all-in with 31,500 chips. Ho folded and after a chip count, Siong made the call.


Both players showed their hand with Siong holding K J and Nguyen with A 2.


Flop came K 3 J T 8 giving Siong a two-pair for the win and felting Nguyen out of the tournament.

Nguyen Duc Thanh raises the blinds to 5,500 at mid position to be called by Fluffy Ho at dealer position. But big Blind David Anstice 3-bet to 16,500. Thahn called while Ho folded.


Dealer flopped 9 8 5. Both players checked to see the Turn which showed 6. Anstice checked to Thanh who pushed 30,000 to the middle of the table. Anstice, trying to read Thanh's hand, stared him down but in the end folded.

Preflop Le Ncooc Minh raised the blinds to 1,600 which got a 3-bet from Trung Doang Quang for 4,000. Minh Called and the flop came down with 3 2 6. Both players checked to the turn which showed 8. Minh bets out 4,200 which was called by Quang.


The river produced a 2 and Minh added 12,200 to the pot. The sizable bet made Quang use one of his time cards, but in the end he called just to see Minh having caught a set on the flop with 3 3

Lytvynov Wins Pot from mysterious Thanh

A raise of 1,100 chips from Nhuyen Duc Thanh got a call from Dmytro Lytvynov from small blind pre-flop. Flop came T A K which was checked by both players.


The turn showed 7 which was checked to Thanh who also checked, earning himself a perplexed look from Lytvynov. River showed A and this time Lytvynov decided to create action by betting 3,000 which Thanh immediately called.


Lytvynov turned over A J and Thanh without batting an eyelash mucked his hand leaving Lytvynov wondering what hand he had.

Won Poker Cup Main Event Champion Trophy

Welcome to Somuchpoker, the official media partner of the Won Poker Cup, the very first international event in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.


Despite the cloudy skies in this coastal city, it will be bright in Won Majestic Hotel with the presence of illustrious names in the poker industry; to name a few, Armon Van Wijk, Hai Nam HoangDao Minh Phu, Quang Nuy Nguyen and Kyle Bao Diep have already been seen in the vicinity.


The Won Poker Cup Main Event#2, which guarantees US$500,000 for a buy-in of US$1,100, starts with Day1A today at 12:00pm. Players will have a starting stack of 30,000 chips and tournament levels have been set at 40 minutes. There will be 15 levels played for all Day1s with no dinner break but players can look forward to breaks every 3 levels.


Registration is open until Level 9 at 7:20pm.
