Kim Jongsu Claims Overall Chip Lead
Kim Jongsu of Korea is among the tournament’s big stacks and opens from the +1 position for 9,000 as it folds to the player in the CO who makes the call. Also calling is Israel’s Avi Kaplan from the D until another Korean in Kyu Suk Shin re-raises all-in from the BB for his last 42,000. Kim, the original raiser, 4-bet shoves as the player in the CO folds, but Kaplan puts what’s left of his dwindling stack of 32,000 in the middle of the table as well.
Kyu turns over 8♦ 8♠, Kim shows J♥ J♦ while Kaplan has one over card to all of that with K♦ 9♦ .
The window card immediately shows the J♠ along with the 7♣ and the 2♥ . Kaplan is drawing dead on the turn as the 5♦ arrives and when the 4♣ shows up on the river, two players are busted and a new chip leader emerges as Kim is the first to breach the triple century mark with the double knockout he obtained.
