Main Event Day 1C Hits 396 Entries as 59 Advance to Day 2, Loganathan Leads Charge

With the prize pool at the end of Day 1C’s registration at PhP14,812,521 (~US$263,780), Day 1D is underway and later it will be determined how much the final payouts will be as Day 1C’s 396 is the most of the three qualifiers thus far and brought in 59 new players that are already ITM and moving on to Day 2.
Unlike the previous Day 1s, however, Canada’s Niroshan Loganathan was a steady force after picking up the chip lead before the midway mark of the competition and despite several upheavals—mostly from the Filipino layers—he was able to build on it and coast until the end.
Loganathan was believed to have burst the bubble when he busted Filipino Alexis Lim. But it proved to be the penultimate elimination as the bubble was burst not long after when Singapore’s Thomas Po called the shove of Filipino short-stack Mark Anthony Chua who went all-in with A♠ T♠ and was behind all the way against Po’s A♠ J♦ as the board blanked out ensuring the final 59 who will be moving on.
The Canadian finished hostilities with 679,000 in chips while being pursued by three Filipinos in Kevin Mateo in second with 485,000, Richard Marquez in third with 451,000 and Mark Solsona with 441,000. Fifth place was held by Taiwan’s Lin Yu Hsien for 408,000.
A total of 140 now comprise those seeing action in Day 2 which takes place tomorrow (June 15) still at 12:00NN (UCT+8).
Day 1D is still ongoing.

Po Makes Chua Day 1C Bubble

With only 21,000 left in his stack, Mark Anthony Chua of the Philippines commits his remaining stack to the pot from UTG and it folds all the way to Singapore’s Thomas Po in the SB who makes the call.
Chua turns over A♠ T♠ while Po shows one better with A♠ J♦ .
The subsequent runout goes: 7x 8x 9x 3x 8x as Po wins with higher hole cards and officially bursts the Day 1C bubble as the remaining 59 players all trudge on to Day 2 of the Main Event.

Po Outflops Mathys

The action is opened from the +1 position by Switzerland’s Pierre-Yves Mathys for 3,000 and callers in the +2 position and the BB where Thomas Po of Singapore chooses to defend.
The flop is K♠ T♥ 7♠ as Po checks and Mathys fires 7,300. The caller in the +2 position folds but Po makes the call. It is now Heads-Up to the turn where the A♦ shows up. Po checks again and Mathys unloads 15,000. The Singaporean still makes the call. The river is the 9♦ and this time, no more action ensues.
Mathys turns over K♥ J♥ for top pair on the flop while Po shows K♦ 7♦ for top two pairs on the flop that played cautiously in the end.
Po stack nears the century chip mark.
