With the prize pool at the end of Day 1C’s registration at PhP14,812,521 (~US$263,780), Day 1D is underway and later it will be determined how much the final payouts will be as Day 1C’s 396 is the most of the three qualifiers thus far and brought in 59 new players that are already ITM and moving on to Day 2.

Unlike the previous Day 1s, however, Canada’s Niroshan Loganathan was a steady force after picking up the chip lead before the midway mark of the competition and despite several upheavals—mostly from the Filipino layers—he was able to build on it and coast until the end.

Loganathan was believed to have burst the bubble when he busted Filipino Alexis Lim. But it proved to be the penultimate elimination as the bubble was burst not long after when Singapore’s Thomas Po called the shove of Filipino short-stack Mark Anthony Chua who went all-in with A♠ T♠ and was behind all the way against Po’s A♠ J♦ as the board blanked out ensuring the final 59 who will be moving on.

The Canadian finished hostilities with 679,000 in chips while being pursued by three Filipinos in Kevin Mateo in second with 485,000, Richard Marquez in third with 451,000 and Mark Solsona with 441,000. Fifth place was held by Taiwan’s Lin Yu Hsien for 408,000.

A total of 140 now comprise those seeing action in Day 2 which takes place tomorrow (June 15) still at 12:00NN (UCT+8).

Raising from the +2 position, Anton del Rosario of the United States make it 12,000 to go and is called on the D by Filipino Christopher de Lara and the BB.

The flop comes K♥ 8♥ J♥ as the BB and del Rosario check. De Lara takes over the betting lead for 15,000 as the BB folds. Del Rosario then check-raises all-in and is called by de Lara for his last 118,000.

Del Rosario tables 4♥ 3♥ for a flopped flush while de Lara is not drawing dead as he shows K♠ J♣ for top two pairs.

The turn card brings in the K♦ to give de Lara the lead permanently with a full house and if that wasn’t enough, the river card is the J♠ .

De Lara rejoins the big stack conversation.

Filipino-American Anton de Rosario opens the action from the +1 position for 7,000 and gets calls from fellow Filipino Christopher de Lara in the HJ and Kang Jungtae of Korea in the SB.

The flop goes 6♠ 5♠ 8♠ as Kang checks and del Rosario continues on the monochrome board for 8,000 to which both of his opponents call. The turn is the 3♦ as now Kang leads out for 20,000. Del Rosario folds but de Lara stays interested. It is now Heads-Up to the river which brings in the 5♥ as Kang makes a smallish bet of 8,000 and gets raised to 45,000 by the Filipino. Kang makes the call.

De Lara tables 5♦ 3♣ for a backdoor full house as Kang mucks his hand.

The win has de Lara hanging with the big stacks.

It gets folded to the CO where Toshiki Mitsui of Japan raises it up to 1,300. He gets calls from Filipinos Christopher de Lara on the D and Wendell Barte in the BB.

The flop goes T♥ 2♥ 4♠ as Barte checks and Mitsui CBets for 2,000. Both Filipinos call. The turn card is the 8♠ as again Barte checks. The Japanese player now makes it 5,000 to go and is again called by de Lara but Barte exits the hand. It is now Heads-Up to the river which brings in the K♥ . Mitsui now bets 11,000 and gets no response from de Lara.

Mitsui tables K♠ K♣ and inches closer to the six-figure mark in terms of chip count.
