Super Series Turbo Flight A Draws 105 Entries, Eclipses GTD Prize Pool; Ferrera Leads
The highly anticipated (Event #26A) Super Series Turbo had Flight A go down and after the GTD prize pool was surpassed as early as Level 16, the 105 entries saw 16 advance to Day 2.
The original GTD prize pool of PhP500,000 (~US$8,955) ballooned to PhP1,009,809 (~US$18,085) and was shattered as early as Level 16 with still Flight B to be played. The buy-in PhP6,500 (~US$115).
The bubble burst by Arvin Tamilsilvam of Singapore when called the 4-bet shove of Namibia’s Mario Michaels as the latter tabled 4♣ 4♦ against 9♠ 9♥ . The flop immediately had the Namibian drawing thin when it came Q♣ J♥ 9♦ . Needing running cards to stay alive, the 3♠ on the turn ended any miracle aspirations for Michaels as the 2♣ on the river made it official.
Leading the qualifiers is The Philippines’ Joseph Ferrera with 422,000 in chips followed by Tamilsilvam with 343,000. Another Filipino in Rodolfo Cruz is third with 302,000.
