Chalk up the first victory for the Taiwanese in these proceedings as Huang Ting Yen ended up as the last man standing in a field of 146 entries to triumph in the Turbo event for PhP177,000 (~US$3,175).

Huang had the shortest stack entering the Final Table but that did not deter him from outlasting India’s Arjun Dhingra in a Heads Up battle that lasted only nine hands.

It’s Huang’s third career title in a Pokerstars Live event in Manila and the Philippine resident also picked up his second biggest payday of his young poker career as well as an automatic seat in the Manila Super Series Main Event by virtue of his victory.

In the ninth hand of Heads Up, Huang limps in from UTG/D and gets shoved on by Dhingra. Huang makes the quick call.

Huang is surprised to see Dhingra’s hole cards as the Indian turns over A♠ Q♦ which is ahead of his K♣ J♣ .

The flop, though, changes the story: K♠ J♠ Q♥ as Huang flops two pairs but Dhingra also hits his queen and picks up additional out with a gutshot straight draw. The turn is the 9♣ while the river card is the 7♣ to give the victory to Huang.

In a rare unraised pot, both protagonists see a flop of K♥ 4♠ 2♠ .

Huang is in the BB and checks his option. Dhingra checks behind. The turn is the 6♠ as now Huang bets 160,000. Dghingra folds as the chip lead returns to the Taiwanese player.

After two uneventful hands to begin Heads Up, Huang Ting Yen raises from UTG/D and Arjun Dhingra re-raises all-in. Huang folds.

The chip lead goes back to the Indian, albeit very slightly.

With less than two BBs left in his stack, Filipino Edison Yu is all-in UTG and gets called by chip leader Huang Ting Yen in the BB.

Yu shows T♥ 2♥ while Huang has K♠ Q♣ .

The runout goes K♥ J♣ T♠ 6♦ 5♣ as Huang now sets up heads up against Arjun Dhingra.

Huang Ting Yen raises it to 120,000 from UTG/D and gets re-raised all in the BB by chip leader Arjun Dhingra. Huang makes the call for his tournament life and his last 800,000.

Dhingra shows A♥ 8♦ while Huang has A♠ 9♥ for a slim lead.

The flop keep the Chinese player ahead: A♣ 9♦ 2♠ and the last two community cards go 9♠ and 5♥ as the full house now gives the chip lead to Huang for the first time.

The Philippines’ Edison Yu goes for it all anew as he shoves his last 260,000 from UTG and gets action from Huang Ting Yen of Taiwan in BB.

The runout goes 7♣ 6♣ 5♠ 8♦ 9♣ as both players play the board on a made straight.

Chip leader Arjun Dhingra of India begins to wield his mighty stack as he shoves from UTG. He gets a caller from the SB as Taiwan’s Huang Ting Yen makes the jump for his last 260,000.

Dhingra turns over K♦ 3♦ while Huang shows 9♥ 9♦ .

The runout goes Q♦ 8♦ 6♥ A♠ 5♣ as Huang gets more artillery and Dhingra falls below the two million mark for the first time in a few orbits.

The action is once again folded to the blinds as Taiwan's Huang Ting Yen completes his SB only to be met with a shove from Filipino Edison Yu from the BB for his last 40,000. Huang makes the duty call.

The runout goes K♦ 7♦ 9♠ 4♠ Q♥ as Yu doubles up anew.

After doubling up Filipino Joey Pardales in the hand previous, Taiwan's Huang Ting Yen has it folded to him in the SB and elects to complete while another Filipino in Edison Yu is in the BB and opts to check.

The flop is 5♦ J♦ 3♠ as Huang fires 30,000. Yu calls. The turn is the 8♥ and this time, the Taiwanese player unloads 80,000. Yu chooses to walk away.

The Philippines’ Joey Pardales has it folded to him in the SB as he shoves his remaining 100,000 into the pot. In the BB, Huang Ting Yen of Taiwan makes the call.

Pardales flips over A♣ J♦ while Huang has live cards with 8♣ 7♣ .

The runout goes A♠ 8♥ Q♠ T♣ Q♦ as the Filipino player gets a much needed double up at the expense of the player from Taiwan.

On the eighth of the Final Table, major action ensues as Taiwan's Huang Ting Yen raises from the +2 position to 55,000 and is re-raised all-in by Makoto Miyatake of Japan from the CO for his last 305,000. Huang goes into the tank and uses up two timebank cards in the process. He ultimately decides to make the call.

Miyatake tables A♦ K♥ while Huang shows 6♠ 6♣ . The Taiwanese player is at risk.

The runout goes 3♠ 8♦ 9♥ Q♦ 8♥ as Huang dodges all potential bogeys for a fortuitous double up as Miyatake’s stack gets seriously dented.

Japan’s Makoto Miyatake has it folded to him on the D and takes the leap with his remaining 128,000. He called in the SB by Huang Ting Yen of China.

Miyatake unveils K♣ J♥ and is live against Huang’s A♦ T♦ .

The runout goes Q♥ 7♥ 4♦ 6♣ J♦ as the Japanese player celebrates hitting a pair on the river to stay alive.

In blind versus blind action, China’s Huang Ting yen raises it to 40,000 and gets a defense from Arjun Dhingra of India.

The flop comes Q♥ 6♠ A♠ as Huang fires 24,000. Dhingra calls. The turn is the J♥ and this time, the Chinese player makes it 65,000 to go. Dhingra sticks around. The river is the 5♣ as Huang now empties the clip for his last 169,000. The Indian goes into the tanl and is forced to burn his final timebank card before opting to fold.

Huang now nears the half million mark with his aggressive take down.

The action is folded to the CO where Japan’s Koshiba Haruto swings for the fences for his last 82,000. It gets to the BB where Huang Ting Yen makes the call.

Haruto shows A♠ J♦ as his Chinese opponent is dominated with A♦ 9♠ .

The flop switched the favors immediately: 3♥ 4♦ 9♦ to give Huang top pair. The turn is the 8♦ and the river is the 2♦ complete a backdoor flush Huang didn’t need as Haruto exits in 15th place.
