Main Event (18,500 PHP)

The first of four starting flights has ended in the Manila Super Series ₱18,500 Main Event at Okada Manila. Flight A featured 155 entrants and by the end of the night only 24 players managed to find a bag and advance to Day 2.

David Erquiaga finished the night with the chip lead after bagging 433,000. Erquiaga is most closely followed by Patrick Wahlquist (371,000) while Alex Gelev rounds out the top three with 358,000.

There are still three more starting flights to go. Flight B takes place tomorrow at noon while Flight C takes place on February 8 at noon. Later that evening the final flight, featuring a turbo structure, will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Somuchpoker will be on sight to provide all the action throughout the Main Event.

Craig Jones moved all in for 64,000 from the cutoff and John Tech called from the big blind with a covering stack to put him at risk.

Bulaong was in great shape with a dominating jack and remained ahead on the 6♣ 5♥ 5♠ 3♦ J♠ runout to double up on the stone bubble.

With 25 players remaining and 24 players advancing to Day 2 players are now on the stone bubble for the Main Event.

Craig Jones opened to 15,000 from the hijack and Man Chung Tsui called from the cutoff. The flop came 8♣ 4♠ 3♦ and Jones check-called a 12,000 bet from Tsui.

Tsui bet 22,000 when checked to on the 6♦ turn and Jones called again. On the 2♥ river Jones checked, Tsui bet 50,000 and Jones called. Tsui showed a straight with 5♥ 4♣ and Jones mucked.

Alex Gelev opened to 10,000 from the cutoff, Juhoon Chung three-bet to 26,000 from the button and Gelev called. The flop came A♦ T♠ 3♦. Chung bet 16,000, Gelev shoved and Chung folded.

With two players seeing a board of 5♠ T♦ 9♠ and 41,000 in the middle Mickael Taillepierre checked from under the gun and Alex Gelev bet 22,000 from the button. Taillepierre moved all in for 74,000 and Gelev called with a covering stack to put him at risk.

Taillepierre had two overcards against Gelev’s top pair but could not connect with either one on the Q♥ T♠ runout, resulting in his elimination while Gelev won the pot.

The flop came 6♣ 2♣ 8♦ . Govindasamy check-folded to a 10,000 continuation bet from Erguiaga who took down his third consecutive pot.

David Erquiaga opened to 12,000 from the button and Jean Paul Berdejo defended from the big blind. Both players checked the 4♠ 4♣ 5♠ flop leading to the 4♦ turn. Berdejo bet 11,000 and Erguiaga called. Berdejo check-folded after Erquiaga bet 45,000 on the K♠ river.

Christian Lortie opened to 10,000 from early position and Nichols Manalo defended from the big blind. The flop came Q♣ K♥ J♦ . Manalo checked, Lortie bet 10,000, Manalo shoved for 55,000 and Lortie called with a covering stack to put Manalo at risk.

Lortie was behind with middle pair and a gutshot while Manalo had two pair. The 3♠ 8♥ runout changed nothing for either player and Manalo doubled through Lortie.

Burzio was a huge favorite with a set of jacks. Karia picked up a straight draw on the K♣ turn but the A♠ river was clean for Burzio who doubled up.

The runout put a straight on the board but Timofeev’s jacks gave him a higher straight to send Yasuaki to the rail and win the pot.

With two players seeing a board of K♦ 2♥ 9♠ 3♣ and 38,000 in the middle Juhoon Chung bet 22,000 from the small blind and Maxwell Rosete called from the big blind. On the 9♦ river Chung checked. Rosete bet 45,000 and Chung folded.

Billy Soriano opened to 10,000 from the hijack and Ionut Dragomir three-bet to 28,000 from the button. Taeil Ahn called from the small blind and Soriano called.

The flop came 6♣ 7♣ K♠ and action checked around to Dragomir who shoved for 66,000 which was enough to get a fold from both opponents.

Wahlquist was good at showdown with ace-high and the best kicker to knock out Chogo and leave secure nearly a full triple up.

Emmanuel Florendo opened to 11,000 from the cutoff, Craig Jones three-bet to 35,000 from the big blind and Florendo called. At the flop K♠ 7♦ K♣ , Jones fired a 17,000 continuation bet that Florendo called.

Jones checked the 6♦ turn and Florendo bet 40,000. Jones moved all in for 177,000 and Florendo went into the tank before finding a fold.

Feridoun Farboud opened to 10,000 from under the gun, Andrea Burzio three-bet shoved for 45,000 from the small blind and Farboud called with a covering stack to put Burzio at risk.

The board ran out 4♦ 5♥ A♠ 9♣ 6♣. Burzio remained ahead throughout with the higher pocket pair and he doubled up through Farboud.

Timofeev was ahead with top pair and after fading the flush draw on the 3♦ 5♣ runout he doubled up through Taillepierre who was left short-stacked.

Martin had a ton of outs with two overcards and the nut-flush draw but he missed all of them when the rest of the board ran out 8♣ 6♠ and was sent to the rail.

Miyatake’s pocket aces remain ahead on the runout and he doubles up through Tsui.

Tech flopped a set and improved to a full house on the runout to double up through Lortie.

Michihiko Matsuda opened to 6,000 from under the gun and Siddharth Karia three-bet shoved for 30,000 from the hijack. Matsuda called with a covering stack to put Karia at risk.

The board ran out T♦ 8♠ 3♦ J♥ K♥ giving Karia a set of eights to double up through Matsuda.

Following two limps, William Ysmael limped behind in the small blind and Jean Paul Berdejo checked his option in the big blind.

The flop came Q♠ 7♦ 8♦ and action checked around to the under the gun player who bet 3,500. All three opponents called. Ysmael led out with a 17,000 bet on the 6♦ turn and Berdejo called while the other two players got out of the way.

On the K♣ river Ysmael checked and Berdejo moved all in. Ysmael, who had 37,000 behind, called off for his tournament life and showed 8♠ 5♦ for just a pair of eights while Berdejo turned over the nut-flush with A♦ T♦ to score the knockout and claim the pot.

Jeongyeol Yu opened to 5,000 from early position and Kento Chogo called from the hijack. The flop came 9♦ A♥ Q♠ . Yu checked, Chogo bet 4,000, Yu check-raised to 11,000, Chogo sent it back with a re-raise to 29,000 and Yu called to halt the battle. Yu checked the 8♠ turn, Chogo moved all in and Yu folded.

With two players seeing a board of J♣ 7♦ 8♥ and 39,000 in the middle Maxwell Rosete checked from under the gun and Zhiqiang Liu bet 12,500 from early position. Rosete check-raised to 27,500, Liu re-raised to 82,500 and Rosete gave it up.

With two players seeing a board of T♠ 2♠ J♠ 9♣ and 29,500 in the middle Emmanuel Florendo bet 12,000 from the big blind and William Ysmael raised to 27,000 from the hijack. Florendo called.

Florendo bet 20,000 on the Q♥ river and this time Ysmael just called. Florendo had rivered a straight with J♦ 8♦ and Ysmael mucked his hand.

Miyatake went on to flop top pair and remained ahead to double up through Tsui.

The board gave Chung two pair to send Zhenbo to the rail and claim the last of his chips.

The board gives Burzio top pair to win the pot while Magbanua only has ace-high and he makes his exit from the tournament area.

With three players seeing a board of 3♠ 8♦ 7♣ 2♦ and 58,000 in the middle, Kiril Gelev checked from the small blind William Ysmael checked from the hijack and Jean Paul Berdejo moved all in from the button for 76,000. Both opponents folded and Berdejo won the pot without showdown.

With two players seeing a board of Q♥ 7♥ A♠ 2♥ Q♠ and 19,000 in the middle Shawn Philip Benitez bet 7,000 from the big blind and Yoonseung Han raised to 31,000 from early position, leaving just 11,000 behind. Benitez moved all in with a covering stack and Han called.

Han had a pair with K♥ K♦ but Benitez had him beat with A♥ 9♥ for the nut-flush to send Han to the rail and claim the last of his chips.

A player limped in from under the gun, Kiril Gelev limped behind from early position and two more players limped before William Ysmael checked his option in the big blind.

The flop came 3♠ 8♥ 8♦ and action checked around to a player in the hijack who bet 2,000. Ysmael raised to 8,000 and only Gelev called.

Both remaining players checked the 4♣ turn leading to the J♠ river. Ysmael checked, Gelev bet 7,500 and Ysmael folded.

With two players seeing a board of J♦ A♦ T♠ 7♥ 3♦ and 59,000 in the middle William Ysmael bets 48,000 from under the gun. Juhoon Chung went into the tank from the button before folding his hand.

The late registration period for Flight A has ended. The first of four starting flights generated 155 entrants. The plan is to play until just 24 players remain at which point all remaining players will be in the money and advance to Day 2.

With two players seeing a board of 9♣ 8♥ 7♣ and 16,000 in the middle Nichols Manalo checked from the small blind and Jeffrey Ponce checked from the big blind. Manalo check-called a 5,000 bet from Ponce on the K♣ turn. On the 9♠ river Manalo check-called another bet from Ponce, this time for 10,000. Ponce showed A♣ K♠ for top pair, top kicker and Manalo’s hand hit the muck.

William Ysmael opened to 2,500 from the cutoff, Jeongyeol Yu called from the small blind, Juhoon Chung three-bet to 9,500 from the big blind, Ysmael called and Yu called. The flop came 2♦ 9♠ J♥ and action checked around to Chung who bet 10,000. Both opponents folded and Chung won the pot without showdown.

With two players seeing a board of Q♥ J♣ A♥ 7♦ and 16,800 in the middle Emmanuel Florendo bet 10,500 from the hijack and Siddharth Karia called from the button. Both players then checked the Q♦ river. Florendo showed top pair with A♠ K♠ which was enough to win the pot.

Nichols Manalo opened to 3,500 from under the gun and was called by Jeffrey Pamplona in the cutoff before Will Abanero three-bet shoved for 12,900 from the button. Nichols four-bet shoved with a covering stack and Pamplona, who started the hand with 39,100, made the call for his tournament life.

The board ran out 8♠ 6♦ A♦ 4♣ 6♣ giving Pomplana two pair to drag in a massive pot while Abanero is sent to the rail.

With two players seeing a board of 9♣ 7♠ A♦ K♠ 7♥ and 23,000 in the middle Emmanuel Florendo checked from the big blind and Henry Jun bet 11,100 from the hijack. Florendo called. Henry could only show a missed straight draw with Q♥ J♥ while Florendo had two pair with A♠ 4♣ to win the pot.

Erquiaga’s pocket pair were still good after the runout and he took the pot while Ganbold exited the tournament area.

Shohei Tane opened to 2,400 from under the gun and Seonghun Jeong three-bet to 6,500 from the cutoff. Tane called. The flop came J♠ K♠ J♦ and Tane check-called a 7,000 bet from Jeong. Both players checked the 4♣ turn leading to the 7♦ river. Tane checked again, Jeong moved all in for 16,800 to get to Tane fold.

Kento Chogo opened to 2,500 from the button and was called by Taeil Ahn in the small blind and a player in the big blind. The flop came K♥ 7♠ K♠ and action checked around to Chogo who bet 4,500. Only Ahn called. Both players checked the 3♠ turn and 9♣ river. Ahn showed two pair with A♦ 7♦ and Chogo flashed the 7♣ from his hand before mucking.

Jeffrey Ponce opened to 2,500 from the hijack and Edgar Asehan three-bet shoved for 15,300 from the button. Ponce called with a covering stack to put Asehan at risk.

Nichols Manalo opened to 2,500 from under the gun and Jeffrey Ponce called from early position. Jeongyeol Yu three-bet to 11,500 from the small blind and both oppoents called. The flop came J♣ T♣ 5♦. Yu shoved for 31,000 and both opponents folded.

Ionut Dragomir opened to 2,200 from under the gun and Man Chung Tsui called from the hijack. The flop came 5♣ 6♥ 6♦. Dragomir fired a 2,600 continuation bet and Tsui called. Dragomir continued for 3,100 on the 7♠ turn and Tsui called again. On the A♣ river Dragomir bet 3,500. Tsui raised to 11,000, Dragomir re-raised to 53,500 and Tsui folded.

In a preflop confrontation Charis Karydakis was all in from early position for 30,200, slightly covering Mickael Taillepierre who was all in for 29,700 from the big blind.

Taillepierre’s aces held up on the 4♦ 2♣ 8♠ 5♦ 6♦ runout and he doubled up through Karykadis who was left with less than one big blind.

With two players seeing a board of A♠ 8♣ 7♥ 9♣ and 7,000 in the middle, Michihiko Matsuda checked from the big blind and Kimura Yasuaki bet 2,000 from the button. Matsuda raised to 10,000 and Yasuaki called. Matsuda continued for 15,000 on the J♣ turn and this time Yasuaki folded.

Tsai was ahead with an overpair against Kaminski’s top pair. Kaminski failed to improve on the A♥ A♠ runout and was sent to the rail while Tsai won the pot.

Dragomir was a huge favorite with trip sixes and after remaining ahead on the T♠ river he doubled up through Tsui.

Man Chung Tsui opened to 2,000 from under the gun and was called by Lenart Ecarma in the hijack and a player in the big blind. The flop came 6♠ 3♣ T♠ and action checked around to Tsui who bet 1,500. Both opponents called.

Tsui continued for 7,000 when checked to on the 3♠ turn and this time only Ecarma called. Tsui sized down with a 3,000 bet on the J♣ river. Ecarma shoved for 16,600 and Tsui snap-called.

Lenart had two pair with 8♠ 8♣ but Tsui had turned a flush with 7♠ 5♠ to eliminate Ecarma and win the pot.

With two players seeing a board of 8♣ K♦ T♣ and 5,800 in the middle Keijiro Shimojo checked from the small blind, a player in the big blind checked and Muthukumaran Govindasamy bet 1,600 from the hijack. Both opponents made the call. Govindasamy bet 3,600 when checked to on the 8♦ turn and this time only Shimojo called. On the 4♦ river Shimojo checked and folded to a third barrel of 5,500 from Govindasamy.

John Carlo Cura opened to 2,400 from under the gun and Craig Jones defended from the big blind. The flop came K♣ J♦ 4♥ and Jones check-called a 1,600 bet from Cura. Jones checked again on the T♥ turn. Cura bet 5,000 and Jones folded.

With two players seeing a board of T♣ 7♣ 8♥ 2♣ and 25,800 in the middle, Aslan Olavi Vainio checked from the big blind and David Erquiaga shoved from early position. Vainio folded and Erquiaga won the pot.

Manalo was ahead with an overpair against Manalo’s pair of sevens. The 2♦ 6♦ runout changed nothing for either player and Manalo doubled up.

Sung Do Kwok opened to 1,600 from under the gun and received four calls including Marquez Pagsuyuin in the small blind.

The flop came 4♠ 4♥ K♥ and Pagsuyuin quickly shoved for 11,700. The big blind folded, Kwok re-shoved for 23,000 and all other players got out of the way leaving Marquez at risk against Kwok.

Marquez failed to complete his flush draw when the board ran out 8♠ 5♣ and was sent to the rail while Kwok collected the last of his chips.

From under the gun, Alari Kunnapuu opened to 1,200, button player Hui Sun called, Jesus Rivera also called from the small blind, and big blind tossed in the chips. The flop came 8♥ T♠ 8♠ and action checked around to Sun who bet 1,100. Rivera called, the big blind dropped out and Kunnapuu called. Sun continued for 6,000 on the 5♦ turn and this time his two remaining opponents surrendered.

Both players had premium pocket pairs but Govindasamy remained ahead with his pocket kings on the runout to double up through Tan.

Kaminski had the best of the situation with pocket kings and he remained ahead on the runout to double up through Colada.

A player limped early position, Oleg Alex Kaminski raised to 1,600 from the cutoff and Joshua Figuerres three-bet to 4,200 from the button. The limper folded while Kaminski gave him action. The flop came A♦ J♣ K♣. Oleg checked, Figuerres c-bet 3,500 and won the pot right there.

Keijiro Shimojo opened to 1,200 from the cutoff and was called by Shuichi Akiba on the button and a player in the big blind. When the flop came A♥ J♣ 4♥ , the big blind checked, Shimojo fired a 1,200 continuation bet and only Akiba called. Shimojo continued for 2,600 on the 5♠ turn and Akiba joined to see the river 3♠ . Shimojo halted to a check prompting Akiba to test bet 6,000, Shimojo folded.

With three players seeing a board of 7♦ K♦ 7♣ and 6,700 in the middle Alvir Inocentes and Feridoun Farboud checked to Jesse Marc Solidum bet 2,000 on early position and both opponents called. Solidum fired again 5,000 when checked to on the A♦ turn and both opponents called again. On the 8♦ river Inocentes jumped out for 3,500, Farboud raised to 10,000 to push out Solidum while Inocentes called. Farboud showed a full house with 8♠ 7♠ and Inocentes mucked.

Zackary Lazarus opened to 1,600 from early position and Jinsung Chung called from the hijack. The flop came A♥ K♠ Q♥ and Lazarus fired a 2,500 continuation bet that was called by Chung.

With a one card straight on the J♣ turn and 9♦ river, both players check. Lazarus showed a pair with 8♦ 8♥ , Chung had him beat with A♦ 4♠ for top pair to win the pot.

With two players seeing a board of A♥ 3♠ T♠ 8♠ 2♠ and 13,500 in the middle Peter John Forner bet 8,000 from the big blind and John Carlo Cura called to see. Forner had second pair with T♣ 5♣ , Cura wasn't bluffing and showed top pair with A♣ Q♥ to win the pot.

With two players seeing a board of 4♠ 8♣ 5♣ and 4,200 in the middle Hochung Song bet 1,300 from the big blind and Patrick Barnay called from early position. The two players then checked both the 7♣ turn and 7♠ river. Barnay showed A♣ Q♥ and Song mucked.

Ilia Timofeev opened to 1,100 from under the gun and received calls from Christian Lortie seated directly to his left and a player in the hijack. All three players checked the Q♥ K♦ 2♠ flop leading to the 2♥ turn. Timofeev bet 2,600 and only Lortie called. Timofeev continued for 4,500 on the T♦ river, Lortie moved all in pushing out Timofeev.

Junj Javalera opened to 1,500 from under the gun, was called by Man Chung Tsui in the hijack and a player in the big blind. The flop came Q♦ 2♦ 7♣ , Javalera bet 4,400, Tsui called and the big blind folded. Javalera continued for 12,000 on the T♠ turn. Tsui moved all in with a covering stack and Javalera, who had 19,200 behind, made the call for his tournament life.
