Nicholas Michael Ends Run At 8th Place!

8th Place Finisher Nicholas Michael

Deepstack (KRW 100M GTD) Final

Blinds 60,000/120,000 Ante 120,000

Yang Haibo limped the requirements from the button. Nicholas Michael completed the small blind and the big blind checked for a flop of 2 3 4 . Nicholas Michael risked his last 700,000. The big blind folded and Yang Haibo snap called. Nicholas Michael flipped over 5 9 for an open-ended straight draw while Yang Haibo turned over A A, taking away two outs from Michael. The turn J and river Q gave Yang Haibo the win and eliminated Nicholas Michael at 8th place.

Nicholas Michael takes home a payout of KRW 5,820,000 (~USD 4,400), which can get him a trip from Jeju to a beach in Mexico with cases of cerveza and tequila.

Nicholas Michael Eliminates Yilu Yuan At 11th Place

Yilu Yuan Finishes at 11th Place

Deepstack (KRW 100M GTD) Final

Blinds 40,000/80,000 Ante 80,000

It was all left to the blinds. Nicholas Michael applied the pressure from the small blind putting Yilu Yuan all-in for his last 150,000 at the big blind. With the blinds increase and the short stack, Yilu Yuan knew this was it and put his tournament life at risk with K 9 versus the dominating K J of Nicholas Michael. The board ran T 4 5 Q A giving Nicholas Michael a straight to send home Yilu Yuan at 11th place.

Yilu Yuan takes home an 11th place payout of KRW 4,080,000 (~USD 3,000), which can buy center court tickets for the French Open finals.

The Nicholas Michael Roller Coaster Ride

Nicholas Michael

Deepstack (KRW 100M GTD) Final

Blinds 30,000/60,000 Ante 60,000

The rollercoaster rolls to the very top and then it uses the immediate drop to gain momentum as it rails through the track.

The first drop for Nicholas Michael was when his K Q went up against the 5 5 of Yliu Yuan. Yilu Yuan won the coin-toss on a board of 8 T 6 6 4.

From that bottom with only 5 big blinds left, the only way is up or out. For Nicholas Michael, it was up.

His A 3 held up against the K J of Jin Zhou. No one hit anything on the board of 7 5 8 Q 7, making the ace-high of Nicholas Michael the winner.

With blinds increasing the next level, Nicholas Michael again went on a battle with Yilu Yuan. This time Nicholas Michael was armed with Q Q against the A 5 of Yilu Yuan. The board came T 7 Q 8 3. Yilu Yuan was dead on the flop.

Nicholas Michael Sends Home Ngooi Chin Hau at 12th Place

Ngooi Chin Hau Exits at 12th Place

Deepstack (KRW 100M GTD) Final

Blinds 25,000/50,000 Ante 50,000

Nicholas Michael made a 175,000 raise from UTG+1 and was re-raised all-in for 440,000 by Ngooi Chin Hua from the big blind. Nicholas Michael made the call for a showdown.

Ngooi Chin Hua was slightly pleased when they flipped over their cards. Ngooi Hua's K 7 slightly dominated the K 4 of Nicholas Michael.

But then... the flop of 2 4 Q gave Nicholas Michael the lead and Hua with only 3 outs to stay alive. The turn 5 and river A was of no help and Ngooi Chin Hua took a gracious exit at 12th place, pocketing a decent payout of KRW 3,590,000 (~USD 2,700), which can be used for a weekend getaway in Thailand.

Li Pei is the new chip leader after the break with 1,140,000 chips, and is the only millionaire so far. Of the 48 ITM players who came back to play for the Day 2 Final, only 23 still remain standing. The chip leader at the start of the day was Pham Bao, but a few big hits has reduced his stack to just around 300,000. Such is poker. The chip lead may help a player get deep in the tournament, but it doesn't necessarily guarantee a championship. There's still much poker to play, and maybe Pham Bao will bounce back.

Meanwhile, joining Li Pei at the top is Chua Chen Shen, who is second in chips with 925,000. Wang Chongyang and Nicholas Michael are tied at the third spot with 770,000.
