The King Poker Cup series held at the Les A Casino in Jeju, South Korea, just concluded its centerpiece King's Main Event with China's Ye Wang lifting the prestigious trophy and collecting a handsome USD 587,200 as the champion.

Wang defeated Taiwan's Ting Yi Tsai in the final heads-up duel to claim the King's Main Event championship with Tsai walking away with USD 360,000 as the runner-up.

THE ROAD TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP

There were a total of 180 entries from two Day 1 starting flights that ponied up the USD 15,000 buy-in to generate a juicy prize pool worth USD 2,257,200.

From those starting flights, only 45 survivors advanced to Day 2 to play for 27 cashout spots in the payout circle. Entering Day 2 as the chip leader was Ting Yi Tsai with a stack of 6,610,000 followed closely by China's Haohui Ma with 5,565,000 and USA's David Coleman with 4,300,000.

It took several hours before the bubble finally burst on South Korea's Chang Lee. Lee's pocket queens were outdrawn by the ace-five of Ye Wang, who found an ace on the flop to send Lee out as the bubble boy.

Some notable players who failed to make it in the money were the likes of Wai Kiat Lee, Mingcong Chen, Joshua Mccully and Biao Ding.

Following the bubble burst, eliminations came quickly with Day 2 concluding when a final table of 9 was formed.

Hong Kong's Dong Chen was eliminated in 10th place as the final table bubble when his severely short-stacked pushed with ace-three and couldn't find a way around the ace-nine of China's Renji Mao.

Some key names who made it in the money, but fell short of the final table were Tony Ren Lin, Danny Tang, David Coleman and Samuel Mullur.

FINAL TABLE ACTION

The King's Main Event final table resumed on the Day 3 final with Ye Wang entering as the chip leader with 20,075,000 chips. Close on his heels was Ting Yi Tsai with 16,450,000 and Brazil's Rodrigo Selouan with 15,250,000.

Two quick eliminations came on the very first hands of final table action.

Hongjun Zhao busted on the very first hand, risking his 5,000,000 chips with king-queen only to run into the ace-jack of Selouan.

On the following hand, a short-stacked Haohui Ma jammed with ace-four and couldn't improve against the pocket sevens of Lithuania's Gytis Lazauninkas.

With intense poker action, Japan's Ryuta Nakai eventually took the chip lead from Ye Wang when his pocket kings held against the shove of Wang with hearted ten-eight.

In the beginning of the second level of the final table, Renji Mao bowed out when his ace-queen lost a flip to the pocket jacks of Defeng Chen.

Chen had crippled Mao earlier too take him out of the bottom of the stacks, then finally delivered the final blow to send him out.

Gytis Lazauninkas became the next casualty when he tried to defend his big blind with an all in shove on the strength of his queen-ten. Unfortunately for Lazauninkas, Nakai's pocket eights took on the challenge and maintained to end Lauzaninkas' run in 6th place.

Defeng Chen held the chip lead at one point, but eventually couldn't maintain it and settled for a fifth place finish. Chen ultimately fell when his pocket queens were outdrawn by the big slick of Nakai that found a king on the flop. Chen's USD 142,000 haul is his career best.

Brazil's Rodrigo Selouan played a patient final table and made the right call on his big blind when a big-stacked Wang shoved on Selouan with a diamond jack-nine on the small blind. Selouan was ahead when he turned over ace-queen, but the board rivered a straight for Wang, sending out the Brazilian in brutal fashion.

Three-handed play saw the chip lead exchange several times. Ryuta Nakai's chip lead got crippled by Tsai's straights twice, giving him the short stack. Nakai eventually made a final shove with pocket eights and couldn't improve against the clubbed ace-jack of Ye Wang, ending his run in third place.

HEADS UP ACTION

Ting Yi Tsai entered the heads-up duel with 57,000,000 chips to Ye Wang's 32,000,000.

Some early blows brought down Wang to 22,000,000 chips. However, Wang was able to chip away at Tsai, bridging the gap little by little.

Wang eventually took the lead with pressured bets, forcing Tsai to fold with Wang moving up at 50,000,000 chips and Tsai at 40,000,000.

A few hands after, with almost an hour into heads-up battle, Tsai risked his last chips with hearted ace-seven against the pocket sevens of Wang.

Tsai couldn't improve and settled for a runner-up finish, while Wang emerged as the champion to lift the trophy and take the top prize of USD 587,200.

Wang's score boosted his total live earnings to over USD 13.5 million.
