Bao Qiang Ho Emerges As Final Coronation Champion

The King Poker Cup series held at the Les A Casino in Jeju, South Korea, just concluded its final highlight event with the Final Coronation taking center stage in the last two days of the festival.

Emerging as the champion on the final day of the series was Bao Qiang Ho of Singapore, who claimed the top prize of USD 608,600, the golden crown and the trophy.

Ho defeated China's Tony Ren Lin in the final heads-up duel, where Lin pocketed a prize of USD 394,500 as the runner-up.

THE ROAD TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP

The first day of The Final Coronation saw 65. entries pony up the USD 30,000 buy in and played down to eleven 40-minute levels. There were 27 survivors who bagged chips at the end of the night with Australia’s Vincent Huang leading the pack with 2,670,000 chips.

Huang was followed by Lithuania’s Gytis Lazauninkas with 2,285,000 and Danny Tang of Hong Kong with 1,870,000.

Some other notable players who had decent stacks were Punnat Punsri (1,665,000), Tony Ren Lin (1,460,000) and Ryuta Nakai (1,400,000).

FINAL DAY ACTION

Registration was still open before cards were to be dealt at 13:00 local time. Another ten last-minute registrants boosted the total entries to 75 and built a total prize pool of USD 2,106,000.

The 37 players remaining still had to play down to 12 spots in the payout circle. With no more re-entries, it was a case of survive or go home.

The first three levels of play saw the field thinned to 24 players with 12 more eliminations to go. Some of those who fell early included Punnat Punsri, Toby Joyce, Ryuta Nakai, Tom Dwan and King’s Main Event champion Ye Wang.

The bubble finally burst after five more intense levels of poker action. Abraham Ceesvin of Singapore went out as the bubble boy when his ace-king couldn’t win a flip against the pocket jacks of Chi Zhang.

With 12 players in the money, three more eliminations were needed to make the final table. The final table bubble burst on Gytis Lazauninkas, who went all in with ace-king against the king-queen of David Coleman. Lazauninkas hit his top pair, but Coleman found two queens on the board, setting up the final table.

FINAL TABLE ACTION

Tony Ren Lin entered the final table as the chip leader with 8,500,000 chips. His closest rival was Xing with 7,100,000 and David Coleman with 4,900,000.

The first casualty was start-of-day chip leader Vincent Huang. Huang decided to risk his chips with ace-eight, but ran into the big-slick of Tony Ren Lin and couldn’t find a miracle.

Brazil’s Bruno Volkmann followed next and went out in brutal fashion. Volkmann was all in with ace-nine diamonds against the pocket jacks of David Coleman. Volkmann flopped the nut flush, but the board paired on the turn and made a set on the river to give Coleman a full house.

The UK’s Chi Zhang ended his run in 7th place his ace-king found top pair on the turn and committed his chips, but when the cards were opened, it was David Coleman ahead with trip nines on the flop.

Zhi Ye of China became the sixth place finisher when his Ace-three couldn’t beat the pocket fives of Tony Ren Lin.

Matthew Wantman of the USA fell at 5th place when his pocket tens lost the flip to Singapore’ Bao Qiang Ho.

Four-handed action was patient for a while. Eventually, Xing tumbled in fourth place, pushing his short stack with ace-four and not able to get past the pocket queens of Tony Ren Lin.

David Coleman made a quick exit in 3rd place, committing his stack with a spaded eight-seven. Tony Ren Lin found big slick that avoided the 19 outs of Coleman which included a straight flush draw.

HEADS UP ACTION

Tony Ren Lin entered heads-up battle against Bao Qiang Ho with the chip advantage. Lin sat down with 22,000,000 against the 16,000,000 of Ho.

Ho was able to overtake Lin when a huge pot fell Ho’s way. Lin had two pair, but Ho threatened with a straight that Lin smartly surrendered and folded. Despite avoiding damage, the advantage had shifted to Ho, who never relinquished the lead and applied constant pressure when he hit the board.

In less than an hour, moments after, Ho pressured Lin with a shove of 28,000,000 all in. Lin responded with a call to risk his remaining 9,500,000 chips. Ho’s hearted ace-two held against the king-ten of Lin, crowning him as the Final Coronation champion and finishing Lin as the runner-up.

Despite losing the championship, Tony Ren Lin would be awarded as King Poker Cup Player of the Series and received a custom gold ring for the achievement. Lin confessed that it would've been sweeter if he won the event as well.

Meanwhile, Ho's win is a career best cash, surpassing his previous best of USD 477,000. Ho's total live earnings have now significantly jumped closer to the USD 3 million mark.

Vincent Huang Enters Final Day With Chip Lead

The King Poker Cup series comes to its end today in the Les A Casino at Jeju, South Korea. But before the curtain falls on the series, there is still the unfinished business of crowning a champion in the Final Coronation event in today's final day.

Day 1 saw 65 entries participate with a USD 30,000 buy-in to generate a total prize pool worth USD 1,825,000. However, registration is still open today before the start of play, so those numbers will still improve.

Meanwhile, there were 27 survivors from Day 1 that played through eleven 40-minute levels and bagged their chips to push on in the final day. Entering the final day with the chip lead is Australia's Vincent Huang with a total stack of 2,670,000. Coming in at second is Gytis Lazauninkas of Lithuania with 2,285,000. Completing the top three is Danny Tang of Hong Kong with 1,870,000.

Some other notables entering the final day include Punnat Punsri (1,665,000), Tony Ren Lin (1,460,000), Ryuta Nakai (1,400,000) Wai Kiat Lee (1,100,000), Renji Mao (430,000), Toby Joyce (360,000) and Calvin Lee (205,000).
