The K Poker Cup maintains the exciting momentum of the series with the conclusion of the KPC Main Event happening today.
Running from the July 25 to August 10, the K Poker Cup x King Poker Cup festival in the Les A Casino of the Jeju Shinhwa World Resort, Jeju, South Korea, has been bringing in loads of poker action attended by some of the best poker players in the region and the world.
The K Poker Cup Main Event saw a total of 1,692 entries take part from 6 Day 1 starting flights to generate a total prize pool of KRW 1,900,455,000 (~USD 1,317,050) that crushed the original KRW 880 million guarantee. The top 187 survivors from those flights combined for yesterday's Day 2 session with each guaranteed a minimum share of KRW 2,400,000 (~USD 1,645).
Russia's Maxim Sorokin entered Day 2 as the chip leader, but only managed a 36th place result. Other notable players who fell on Day 2 were Tom Verbruggen (20th), Dylan Foster (25th), Aleksei Sei (31st), Yunfeng Wang (34th), Li Yang (81st), Haohui Ma (93rd), Xiaoxiao Chen (100th), Andres Vasquez (103rd), Kevin Choi (120th), Jianfeng Sun (125th), Chien Chih Weng (128th), Chuer Ni (162nd), Yoda Lin (164th) and Dicky Tsang (179th).
Play went on for ten levels until the final two tables of 16 players were formed. Those 16 players continue their championship campaign in today's Day 3 final until a Main Event winner is left with all the chips.
Shao Chi ChangEntering today's final with the chip lead is Taiwan's Shao Chi Chang with 7,550,000 chips. Joining him in the top three are China's Yuhan Liu and Jing Su with stacks of 7,015,000 and 5,580,000, respectively.
Each of the returning 16 players are guaranteed a payout of at least KRW 11,500,000 (~USD 7,870) with the champion taking home the top prize of KRW 224,255,000 (~USD 153,495) and the coveted Main Event trophy.
