The flop flipped was K♥ 8♥ 7♦, and all three checked.

The turn A♠ had the blinds checking to David, who shot off 21,000, at which Jesse ducked out of the way, and Tsz Kin fired off his own 21,000.

At the 4♠ on the river, Tsz Kin checked once more, and David tried to pull off thte big scare with a bet of of 126,000. The straddle that some tables have been playing has changed the dynamic a bit. Tony Lin on his table has been going after straddles on his near right. But Zuo Wang, having arrived late to the party, wasn't going to give away his straddle so easily.

Tony, sitting to the left of Zuo and his straddle raised to 20,000, which everyon else folded to save for Zuo.

The flop 8♥ 8♣ 6♠ had both gentlemen checking. The turn 6♦ saw Zuo dropping 20,000 into the pot, and Tony calling behind him.

Not much for Defeng Chen to do with 78,000 in chips and pocket 6♠ 6♦ but to go all in and he was called by Daniel Tang who had already invested a raise into the pot.

Daniel turned over K♥ Q♦ and hit the flop 4♣ K♦ 9♦ and was bolstered by the K♣ on the turn, leaving another 6 as still the same out for Defeng, who didn't get it on the river which was 3♦.

It was a intense readathon in the hand between Samuel Mullur on the button and Bruno Volkmann on the small blind.

Every moment was filled with intense side glances from the protagonists seated beside each other, trying to get a read on the other.

Samuel had raised to 6,500 on the button, and Bruno 3-bet to a hefty 25,000, which Samuel called.

The dealer turned over Q♦ 9♥ 9♠ on the flop, and every second of Bruno's long thought-out check was thoroughly scrutinized by Samuel who then bet 25,000, which Bruno again maximized his clock before eventually calling.

The J♠ on the turn was again met by a check from Bruno, and Samuel then beet 57,000, which Bruno called.

The "Mandatory" Straddle

There are four tables running on the Sovereign 50K and two tables are playing with a mandatory straddle on the under the gun position.

Apparently, Tony Ren Lin implemented it in the earlier level and when that table broke, Jesse Lonis and company continued it in their table.

Joseph Cheong - seated on the same table as Lin commented, "It's Tony. It has to be implemented."

Jesse Lonis - on another table - also commented, "That straddle has already cost me 50K" and laughed.

Samuel Mullur was on another table and was asked if they were enforcing the straddle. Mullur replied, "No, but I'm down with it if the table wants to."

On the fourth table, Punnat Punsri said they're not doing it.

Definitely, the action has become more interesting at the straddle tables.

Dingxiang called and revealed 7♥ 7♣ to grapple with Tony's 8♥ 8♠. 9♥ 5♥ A♥ K♥ to the turn gave both gentlemen the flush, but with both hearts playing, it was Tony's 8 that gave him the superior flush.

Dingxian busted out but immediately fired another bullet to keep playing.

Straddle?

Tony Ren Lin has implemented the straddle as an option on the table and Xing made use of it under the gun for 5,000.

Action folded to Lin on the button who raised the straddler to 13,000.

The blinds got out of teh way and straddler Xing made the call.

Both players checked the flop of K♦ 7♥ 8♣

On the 2♥ turn, Xing led out for 13,000 and Lin matched.

The A♠ came on the river. Xing checked and Lin laid out some time bank tokens to decide on what to do. He eventually checked.

Cing tabled 4♣ 4♥ for a pair of fours, while an excited Lin showed 7♣ 6♠ for a pair of sevens to win the pot.

Trip Threes and a Side Rule Double Up Yang Wang

A side rule had developed on table 20, and Yang Wang was reminded of this by Jesse Lonis, when the action that was started by David Miscikowski with a 2x raise to 3,000 was about to be called by Yang.

"You gotta raise if you're gonna call!" prodded Jesse. So raise he did, to 10,000, which David re-raised to 33,000, and Yang's response to that was to go all in.

David turned over Q♦ Q♣ against Yang's 3♣ 3♥.

The flop of A♥ 4♣ 3♦ gave Yang a set of threes, and the turn and river of K♦ and 8♣ didn't rescue David's ladies in distress.

Tony Lin Pushes to Take the Early Chip Lead

Its been a solitary table so far at the Sovereign 50k, but it's a table filled with heavy hitters.

In early action, Tony Lin and Jesse Lonis were left to contest a pot that Tony had initiated action on from UTG+1 with a bet of 2,000, with Samuel Mullur and Jesse Lonis calling behind him.

Tony and Samuel then checked on the flop of T♠ 8♣ Q♥, which Jesse saw as an opening to bet 4,000, Tony re-raised to 14,000, and Samuel took as his cue to get out of the way.

Jesse called, and we see a turn of 5♥, which saw Tony firing 30,000 into the pot which Jesse saw.

At the river 6♣, Tony went all in, which after some thought, Jesse folded on.

Tony went on to show one card, a 7♥.

Sovereign 50k Dealing its First Cards This Afternoon

The Sovereign 50K Tournament of the July King Poker Cup at the Les A Casino of Jeju Shinhwa World deals its first hands 4 pm local time.
