Pocket Sevens Hold Strong to Send Tan to the Rail
Looking for a much-needed double up, Calvin Tan shoved all-in, hoping to either steal the blinds or find a lifeline. Unfortunately for him, Joel Loy, seated on the dealer button, had both the chips and the hand to make the call. Both players tabled their hands:
Calvin Tan: A♥ 9♦
Joel Loy: 7♥ 7♣
Disheartened, Tan watched as the dealer fanned out a flop of 3♠ 5♠ 5♥ , keeping Loy’s pocket sevens firmly ahead. Though Tan held onto a sliver of hope, he slowly began packing his belongings. The turn J and river 3♣ sealed his fate, eliminating him from the tournament — at least for now, with the option to re-enter still open.

Liu Falls Short of Bluffing Loy Out of Pot
The hand was already in motion with a classic clash of the blinds — Joel Loy in the small blind and Yuhang Liu in the big — battling on a flop of J♦ 7♥ 2♣ with about 12,000 in the pot.
Loy check-called Liu’s hefty 11,200 bet on the Q♣ turn. Unable to shake Loy off, Liu slowed down and checked the 4♠ river after Loy tapped the table.
First to show, Loy revealed J♥ 8♥ , and to his surprise and relief, Liu quietly mucked his hand.
