Mai Bien Turns Top Pair Into Trips, Victimizes Two

Level 13: 1,000 / 2,500 ante: 2,500
Mai Bien

After opening from UTG for 5,000, Leo Soma of France finds himself all-in preflop against two players in Vietnam’s Mai Bien and Japanese player Takashi Hirukawa.

Mai is first to show, shoving first and tables A K while Hirukawa has Q Q . Soma is ahead preflop, however, with K K .

The flop immediately turns the tide: 2 A 6 and if that isn’t enough, the turn card is the A . With the two player on the ropes (Hirukawa being at risk) needing to hit one of their two outs, the 9 officially busts Hirukawa and dents Soma as Mai’s stack now becomes healthy again with over 30 BBs.

Soma’s stack is still above the century mark.
