Every year, CPG Satellites feed anywhere from 600 to 800 players to the CPG Sanya Championships. The Shanghai satellite usually contributes the biggest numbers and is expected to do so again. For this season, three prior satellites have taken place, one each at Fuzhou, Jinan, and Taiyuan. The satellites have awarded a combined 342 Main Event seats with champions Lin Wei, Wang Zihao, and Wu Anhao winning multiple packages.

When CPG Shanghai Satellite completes, up next is the much awaited CPG Sanya Championships which takes place from August 20 to 27 at the Howard Johnson Hotel. This annual event is the biggest poker festival held in China since 2013. To emphasize the huge popularity of this festival, last year the organizers expected a downturn in numbers due to Covid-19 however the result was just the opposite. It amassed a record breaking 3,352 Main Event entries for a monstrous prize pool worth CN¥ 33,520,000 (~US$ 4.9 Million). This was the largest prize pool ever seen in Asia, beating its previous record of US$ 4.1 Million set in 2019. This year’s Main Event is expected to be even bigger with a staggering US$ 5.5 Million estimated. For players unable to secure a seat via the live satellites, there is still the online option on the CPG App
