Developed by the well-known Poker King Club that produces highly reputable cash games, the Poker King Cup launched in January 2016 as an opening event to the WPT National Manila. This highly successful first step attracted 312 entries with Korea’s Soojo Kim winning the event.

Later in the year in May, the PKC ran its first stand alone event in Manila. PKC team member Jason Lo triumphed the Php 4 million Gtd Main Event (approx HK$620,000) with 279 players in attendance.
