Asian Poker Tour and Viet Nam Series of Poker close out the year in Da Nang, Vietnam featuring ₫20 Billion in guarantees – December 8 to 18 – starts today!

 

After a two and a half year wait, the Asian Poker Tour (APT) in partnership with the Viet Nam Series of Poker (VSOP) finally makes landfall in Da Nang, Vietnam. Initially scheduled for April 2020 but postponed due to the pandemic, the much awaited event takes place at the Risemount Premier Resort starting today, December 8 and will run through December 18. This is the fifth APT event to be held in Vietnam this year and it is expected to be the biggest with ₫20 Billion (~$835,950) in prize pools guaranteed.

This year has been tremendous for the land based APT which got back on the live beat starting in March. Since then, it has been festival after festival with grand prize pools surging over US$ 2 Million. To close out the season, the brand adds a new destination to its roster, hosting the first international poker event in the popular Da Nang beach destination this year. A large crowd of locals are expected to fly in from all over the country, joined by international players looking to be crowned the last APT champions of 2022. 

Awaiting players are a whopping 36 trophy events – the most offered by the APT in Vietnam – with buy ins from ₫4,400,000 (~$184) to ₫107,000,000 (~$4,472). The series is highlighted by the Main Event which features a ₫10 Billion (~$417,974) guarantee. This is the largest ever Vietnam Main Event prize pool advertised by the APT.

Guaranteed Events

Main Event – ₫10,000,000,000 guarantee

The year-end festival will see APT bring more to the table with the Main Event guaranteeing ₫10 Billion (~$417,974). It runs from December 10 to 15 with three Day 1 heats and two hours of late registration available on Day 2. Buy in is ₫33,000,000 (~$1,380). 

For those new to the APT, the Main Event is a deep structured tournament. Players start with a stack 250 times the opening blinds. Blinds increase at a slow 60 minute pace, giving players plenty of time on the felt. For players that sign up at the very last second, which is during the first break of Day 2, you still enter with a healthy stack equivalent to 20 BB. 

Day 1A: Saturday, December 10
Day 1B: Sunday, December 11
Day 1C: Monday, December 12
Day 2: Tuesday, December 13 (late registration closes at 14:15)
Day 3: Wednesday, December 14
Final 8: Thursday, December 15

Mystery Bounty – ₫2,000,000,000 guarantee

The festival opens up with the highly popular Mystery Bounty featuring a ₫2 Billion (~$83,595) guarantee. Only players that reach the money will have a chance at the bounty pool. Bounty rewards remain a mystery until it is drawn. The event runs from December 8 to 9 with two flights taking place on opening day. It costs ₫9,900,000 (~$415) to enter with ₫3M per buy in going to the bounty pool. 

Flight A: Thursday, December 8 at 12pm
Flight B: Thursday, December 8 at 16:00
Final Day: Friday, December 9 at 12pm

Monster Stack – ₫2,000,000,000 guarantee

The festival closes with the two-day Monster Stack featuring a ₫2 Billion (~$83,595) guarantee. This is a very popular event that consistently sees its prize pool balloon way past the guarantee. The event runs from December 17 to 18 with two entry flights scheduled on the first day. Buy in is ₫16,500,000 (~$690). 

Flight A: Saturday, December 17 at 12pm
Flight B: Saturday, December 17 at 17:00

Final Day: Sunday, December 18 at 12pm

High Roller Events

The high roller scene in Vietnam has exploded this year and to answer the demand, the APT has increased its high roller lineup to 11 with buy ins from ₫43,000,000 to ₫107,000,000. Included in the list is the Superstar Challenge which was popularized in Vietnam. This started as an invitational event and today has become one of the most coveted titles of this tier. 

High Roller Single Day: December 8,10,11,13,16,18 – ₫54,000,000 buy in (~$2,257)
Superstar Challenge: December 9 to 10 – ₫107,000,000 buy in (~$4,472)
High Roller 6 Max Hyper: December 11,13 – ₫43,000,000 buy in (~$1,797)
Super High Roller: December 17 to 18 – ₫86,000,000 buy in (~$3,595)

High Roller – ₫6,000,000,000 guarantee

In addition to the above-mentioned events is the High Roller ₫6 Billion  (~$250,785) guaranteed which runs from December 14 to 17. Buy in is ₫65,000,000 (~$2,714) with two entry days scheduled. Starting stack is 150,000, equivalent to 300 times the opening blinds. Blinds increase every 40 minutes. Late registration is available in Day 2 for 1.5 hours, closing at the start of Level 12. For players that sign up at the last second, you still begin with a healthy 25 BB stack.

Final Day: Saturday, December 17

Other Events

The rest of the schedule is populated with a variety of No Limit Hold’em formats that include Deep Stack Turbos and Hyper Turbos, Bounty Hunter, Single Day, and Power Button. There is also a Women’s Event and one Pot Limit Omaha event.
