Asia Poker League draws 562 entries to inaugural APL Hanoi opening event

Lighting up Vietnam this month is another Asia Poker League stop in Vietnam however it is not where you would expect it to be. Instead of Ho Chi Minh City, the brand brought their fun style of poker to Hanoi for the first-ever APL Hanoi at the Loyal Poker Club. The event is scheduled to run for 11 days. It set sail on August 6 and will conclude on August 16.

Getting things in motion was the Kickoff Event which drew a spectacular field of 562 entries. That and other events have already been captured. We’ve got those early results for you below. At the time of writing, the VND 16,500,000 buy-in Main Event has been up and running with the last of the four starting days currently taking place.

The festival opener VND 6,600,000 buy-in APL / HSOP Kick-Off Event drew 562 entries over the course of three starting days – 152 at Day 1A, 152 at Day 1B, and 258 at Day 1C. This created a very healthy opening prize pool worth VND 3,186,540,000 (~US$ 137,200). The event paid out 85 places. Vietnam’s Nguyen Le Quang shipped the VND 784,940,000 (~US$ 33,800) first place purse for a great starting bankroll.
