With a continuous influx of players seen the past two days, Asian Poker Tour‘s season-ender, APT Hanoi Billions 2023, is on track to obliterate its VN₫ 60,000,000,000 (~$2.5 Million) festival guarantee. Running from December 1 to 10, 2023 at the National Convention Center, the flagship Main Event is expected to contribute significantly to the pot with its formidable VN₫ 25,000,000,000 (~$1,000,000) guarantee. This prize pool stands as the largest ever announced by any brand for an event in Vietnam, and indications suggest it will exceed even that impressive figure.

APT Main Event in 2023

2023 has been an explosive year for the Asian Poker Tour. Unlike its double digit schedule in previous years, this year the brand trimmed it to seven heavily loaded events, culminating at the season ender APT Hanoi Billions. In May, the brand delivered its biggest and richest festival in history, APT Taipei, paying out NT$ 225 Million equivalent to roughly US$ 7.3 Million.

The Main Event was one to remember. For the first time since the brand’s inception in 2008, the prize pool was set at a shocking one million USD / NT$ 30 Million. Over the course of four entry flights, it drew 1,434 entries, to send the prize pool skyrocketing to a brand record-high NT$ 62 ,594,100 (~$2.03 Million). Thailand’s Punnat Punsri clinched it to claim the enormous NT$ 11,210,400 (~$364,315) first prize.

In late-August, APT returned to Incheon, South Korea and once again it was a seven figure Main Event. It drew 930 entries for a prize pool of KR₩ 1,867,347,000 (~$1.41 Million).

Jump forward to today, with record-breaking turnouts being witnessed the past two days, breaching the USD 1 Million guarantee will be a walk in the park. The question is, how high will it go?
