APL Main Event Da Nang: 33 players bag up with Dao Minh Phu in high command

The inaugural Asia Poker League Da Nang resumed today at Risemount Premier Resort with 133 players back in action at the Main Event. By the end of six rounds, the field trimmed down to only 33 players led by Vietnam’s own Dao Minh Phu with a commanding 1,123,000. Phu was the only player to stack up in the seven digit range.

This was another great day for Phu who entered Day 2 in third rank. By mid-day, he crossed a million and brought it all the way to closing time.

Another player just as consistent was China’s Lin Jian who entered as overall chip leader of the starting heats. He maintained course to bag up second rank with 865,000. Right at his heels were Yongdeok Kim (860,000), Nguyen Minh Tuan (855,000), and Vietnamese pro Quang Nguyen (845,000). As for the APL Ambassadors, on Sumit Sapra held on with 378,000.

The final 33 players will return on Wednesday, December 18 at 1pm. They race to a final 9 seat.

The Main Event drew 525 entries for a prize pool of VND 10,185,000,000 (~US$ 439,600). The money was reached at the fall of Kang Feng Lien to Tae Joon Cho with top two pair over top pair. From there, 33 players fell before the close of day.
