APL Da Nang: 525 entries into the Main Event; Kim Jae Hwan and Kwon Hyuk Jin winners in side events

An action packed day came to a conclusion yesterday at the Asia Poker League Da Nang with the last two Day 1 opportunities for the VND 22,000,000 (~USD 944) Main Event and the runout of two side events, the VND 8,800,000 (~USD 380) No Limit Hold’em and the VND 5,500,000 (~USD 238) Hyper Turbo 2.

328 entries in Day 1C and 1D create a 10 Billion prize pool for the Main Event

Day 1A and Day 1B saw already 71 and 126 entries respectively for the Main Event. However, the biggest day was yesterday with two starting flights in one day, Day 1C and a turbo Day 1D.

Combining all four starting days, the total prize pool created by all 525 entries for the Asia Poker League Vietnam is VND 10,185,000,000 with VND 2,026,500,000 (~US$ 87,478) for first place.

It’s become very clear that this is a major event for the Da Nang poker scene which has been growing significantly in recent times.

After the Hanoi event this summer, this is also the second successful event run by the Asia Poker League in Vietnam outside of Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 1C leader is Dao Minh Phu with 333,500 chips

Day 1C kicked off at 12.30pm and saw 231 entries with 59 progressing to Day 2 today. At the end of the day Dao Minh Phu from Vietnam took the lead and is going to take 333,500 in chips with him into Day 2.

Day 1D was a Turbo version with faster blinds and started at 5.30pm. Of the 97 entries 36 are progressing into Day 2. Melvin Tay Yao Loon from Singapore finished up on top and is going to take 266,500 in chips with him into Day 2.

Entering Day 2 as the overall chip leader from four starting days is China’s Lin Jian with 484,500 chips followed by Phan Dinh Nam from Vietnam with 359,500 chips and then fellow countryman Nguyen Minh Tuan with 352,000 chips.

APL Da Nang Day 2 Seat Draws & Chips Counts

Today will start at 1pm with blinds 1.5k/3k and 60 minute levels. The 133 returning players will play for min cash of VND 28,900,000, but more importantly for a 1st prize of  VND 2,026,500,000 (~US$ 87,478). 66 players will make the money.

Event number 7 of this festival was the VND 8,800,000 No Limit Hold’em event starting at 3pm. It attracted 56 entries, creating a prize pool of VND 434,600,000 (~USD 18,741).

The winner Kim Jae Hwan from Korea took home VND 160,700,000 (~USD 6,935) and a nice trophy.
