WPT Prime Vietnam has kicked off at Crown Poker Club Hanoi – May 16 to 29

The World Poker Tour (WPT) is back in Vietnam with its highly popular Prime series now underway at the Crown Poker Club in Hanoi. This is the longest running and most ambitious WPT Asia festival presented by the world brand. The event runs for two weeks, from today, May 16 until May 29, and will feature VN₫ 30 Billion (~US$ 1.28 Million) in guaranteed prize pools. Here are the highlights.

Expanded Prize Pools: With a guaranteed prize pool of VN₫ 30 Billion (~$1.28 Million), there are ample opportunities to win big. The increased prize pool for the MAIN EVENT, now at VN₫ 12 Billion (~US$ 511,200), adds to the excitement. Here’s a complete list of events with guarantees:

Trophy Hunting: Trophy seekers will be very pleased to see there are a 37 side events to try to capture a trophy. The most coveted will of course be the WPT Main Event trophy. Also up for grabs is the WPT Player of the Festival trophy. 

Billionaire Club High Stakes Challenge: WPT events have consistently attracted top players from around the world and one event that will surely put the big guns to the test is the Billionaire Club High Stakes Challenge. This is the most expensive event in the lineup with buy in of VN₫ 210,000,000 (~US$ 8,955). Event takes place on Friday, May 19, 2023. This is a one day event.

Road to WPT World Championships: The winner of the MAIN EVENT not only secures a substantial cash prize but also earns a US$ 10,400 ticket to the renowned WPT World Championships held at the Wynn in Las Vegas. This prestigious event brings together the best players from around the globe, offering the greatest year-end poker experience. During its inaugural run last year, the marquee event shattered its ambitious $15M guarantee amassing over US$ 29,000,000.

Live Broadcast of the Final Table: The final table of the MAIN EVENT and the final table of the HIGH ROLLER will be broadcasted live by ShareHand, providing an immersive viewing experience for spectators. You can witness the intense competition, strategic plays, and dramatic moments as the finalists battle it out for the coveted title.

Exciting Announcement: Adding an element of surprise and anticipation, the WPT has teased a significant announcement to be revealed regarding the Prime Series.

WPT Player of the Festival: At the conclusion of the series, the player with the highest number of points accrued will be crowned WPT Player of the Festival. For the achievement, the winner will receive a WPT Passport worth up to US$ 5,000 for a Main Tour entry of their choice in 2023.

Winning in Style Prizes: The WPT has introduced new prizes for its trophy events.  Players that reach the Final 6 will receive a newly designed WPT cap. Players that reach the Final 3 of any High Roller event receive a WPT backpack. And for all players in the Main Event, a WPT water bottle, while supplies last.

For players visiting Hanoi for the first time, it is one of the most charming cities in Southeast Asia. Aside from poker, players can immerse in the richness of the culture and influences of French colonialism as showcased by the city’s architecture. Touring temples and night markets are also fun for first timers. For the more adventurous, an overnight tour in a junket on Halong Bay is recommended.

Country currency is the Vietnamese Dong. International players can exchange currency at the airport. There are also numerous exchange counters around the city including a bank in the same building as Crown Poker Club
