WPT Prime Taiwan Main Event: Thailand’s Metasit Pratipsangkom dominates Day 1B

Action packed day at WPT Prime Taiwan with the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) filled to capacity once again. International players and locals poured in for Main Event Day 1B, and as predicted, the NT$ 10M guarantee was quickly shattered. With a cumulative 452 entries (Day 1A – 189, Day 1B – 263), the prize pool has now reached NT 13 Million which will balloon further with Day 1C yet to complete. Opening the day’s festivities was a ribbon cutting ceremony with special appearance by Ko  Wen-Je, Mayor of Taipei. After his speech, WPT CEO Adam Pliska also welcomed in the players,

“We are so happy to be here. It is the 20th anniversary of the World Poker Tour and for 20 years the brand has brought people together not just for poker competition but also allowing them to travel the world and meet people all over and forge new friendships. This is what the World Poker Tour is about.”

In anticipation of the large crowd, the WPT and CTP prepared a room at the gymnasium for the side events. This was indeed a good plan with Day 1B attracting a monster 263 entries. For several hours in the day, every seat in the house was spoken for. By midnight, the bubble was delivered, sending Thailand’s Metasit Pratibsangkom‘s stack over the million mark. To emphasize the enormity of his stack, the closest in the overall counts is Day 1A chip leader Carter Chan who is roughly 40 BB behind. To end the day, Pratibsangkom eliminated Shawn Wu on the bubble with pocket Jacks over pocket Tens.
