Three poker festivals heat up Manila in July

There is plenty of reason to head to Manila, Philippines in July with a variety of exciting poker festivals running all throughout the month. The bustling metropolis will see three events step up on the plate: PokerStars Live Manila P2M Guarantee, APT Philippines II 2016, and APPT 10 Manila. Each of these events has its own distinct flavor, so here’s a quick look at what each of them have to offer.

PokerStars Live Manila P2M Guarantees

Warming things up at the start of the month is the PokerStars Live Manila P2M Guarantee. This is a six-day festival running from July 5-10, 2016 at the PokerStars hub in City of Dreams Manila. Compared to the other two upcoming festivals, this event offers the cheapest range of tournaments with entry fees from PHP2,000-10,000. The Main Event is a highly affordable PHP5,000 entry fee with a guarantee of PHP2,000,000. Aside from the main attraction, there are a total of five additional events on the roster some with guaranteed prize pools ranging from PHP200,000-500,000. PokerStars Live Manila events are usually known for their fast structure so expect their tournaments to have blinds ticking at 15-30mins depending on the event.

APT Philippines II 2016

Headed by the Asian Poker Tour, one of the most prestigious poker organizations based in the Philippines, the APT Philippines II 2016 is a nine-day poker event taking place at Resorts World Manila on July 19-27, 2016. Throughout the festival, there are a plethora of poker treats offered including Pot Limit Omaha, Open Face Chinese Pineapple, and an array of Texas Hold ‘em tournaments. The highlight is the US$2,200 entry fee Main Event with a deep structure and running levels of 60 minutes each. Flanking the main are 19 side events ranging from US$150-$3,300. Some of those include highly popular tournaments such as the Opening Event US$50,000 Guarantee, Head Hunter US$100/Bounty, Monster Stack, Battle of the Nations (team event), and Deep Stack Turbo events. There are also a few high roller tournaments for players who seek games with higher stakes.

APPT 10 Manila

The Asia Pacific Poker Tour 10 Manila returns to City of Dreams Manila boasting of a 12-day poker event from July 28-August 8, 2016 for the biggest festival to be staged in the Philippines this year. With the festivities kicking off at the end of July, players can take get their feet wet at the APPT arena with a selection of side events starting with the Warm-up with a PHP3,000,000 (US$63,880) guarantee. Throughout the festival, entry fees range from PHP2,000-200,000 with freeze-out, shootout, turbo, and bounty events all represented. For a little mix up, they also have an NLH/PLO event. A week after opening day, the Main Event takes control of the floor with a buy-in of PHP$50,000. Last year saw Australia’s Aaron Lim make history at the APPT 9 Manila as the first player to ever win a second APPT Main Event title.
