Profile

Thirty-year-old American David Coleman is a professional poker player who has been playing the game for almost a decade.  This native of New Jersey has quite an interesting background. Coleman graduated from his hometown State University at Rutgers with a degree in Finance.

Coleman is currently an Economics, Accounting and Statistics Tutor at the same school. In his Linked-In profile, David Coleman claims he has used this background for his poker play: “…utilizing logical deduction, game theory analysis, combinatorial mathematics, and statistical analysis.”. He further claims to have “Analyzed complex situations and made time-sensitive, high-pressure decisions while playing 8 tables at once; not allowing my emotions affect my decisions.” Though his career seems to have been a slow but steady burn, these skills seem to have brought him to new dizzying heights recently.

The Poker World first took notice of David Coleman in 2021 with a series of deep runs in live high roller events like the 2021 PGT PokerGO Cup, Las Vegas, Super High Roller Bowl Europe and the 2021 PGT Poker Masters, Las Vegas. The New Jersey native’s performance at these tournaments accounts for three of his 5 Best Live Cashes accumulating over $ 1,000,000 dollars in that run alone. Coleman would perform consistently and ended the 2023 season with $3.6 million in recorded tournament earnings spread across 152 scores. He was however without a title. This all changed in 2024, and in stunning fashion.

In David Coleman’s first tournament of the year in January, he would take his first ever title, winning the 2024 Venetian DeepStack $1,600 no-limit hold ‘em Main Event in Las Vegas, besting a field of 457 entries and banking $ 115,989. Coleman was just starting to heat up.

The 30-year-old would continue his blazing start making six final table finishes on the PokerGo Tour. He would take 3 more titles and finish runner up in one. Backing up his CardPlayer Poker Tour Venetian title, Coleman would ship the 2024 PokerGO Tour Kickoff Las Vegas, Event #1, finish runner up at Event #3, and clinch another win at Event #4. He would then claim his 4th title at the PokerGO Cup. With these wins, he padded his earnings by $641,700.

David Coleman would continue to wax hot in March in the high stakes Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Jeju, with 2 cashes. He finished runner up in the Turbo County Quattro Event for a career best live cash of $642,900. Coleman’s scorching first quarter would make him breach the $4 Million in career live earnings with a total live cash of $4,669,220.
