– Cherish Andrews’ Career –

Andrews bagged her first live tournament win in November 2008 for a small prize of $460. The succeeding years saw sporadic participation and moderate success in live tournaments.

In 2012, she finally struck gold. She placed 4th at a No Limit Hold’em event in the 43rd World Series of Poker (WSOP) for $210,083, far and away her largest winnings at the time. It was a busy year for the young female pro as she cashed in a total of 12 events for the year, with half of them coming at the WSOP circuit.

Andrews’ output dropped over the next eight years. However, she did post another huge win at the WSOP in July 2014, placing 5th for $142,346.

Andrews picked the tempo up in 2021. She cashed in 11 events, with the best coming in November when she placed 6th in The Closer event of the 52nd WSOP, earning her $74,680. She also placed 4th at a Pot Limit Omaha event at the World Poker Tour (WPT) for $16,605.

In 2022, Andrews had a breakout year. She cashed in 40 events and racked a career-high win of $259,200 for finishing 2nd at a High Roller event in the WPT World Championship. The year was bracketed by two substantial wins. In January, she placed 3rd at the Deep Stack event of the 2022 WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open for $88,615. Then, in her last cash for the year, she clinched a No Limit Hold’em event in the WPT World Championship for $131,912.

In October 2022, she also captured her first WSOP bracelet for winning the Championship Event of WSOP Online, with a $31,986 prize money to go along with the golden hardware. She also placed 2nd at a Pot Limit Omaha event of WSOP Online for $9,868.

The accumulated success earned Andrews the 2022 GPI Female Player of the Year.
