Due to the pressing global COVID-19 pandemic, live poker is seemingly placed on a temporary halt with limited options taking place. Connaissance Management made the announcement earlier today postponing its World Poker Tour (WPT) Cambodia Main Tour 2020 in light of current events.

WPT Cambodia Cancelled

The first of three Season XIX events was originally scheduled to take place at NagaWorld Resort this coming July 15 – 28, 2020. As a precautionary measure, the gaming and entertainment brand has made an early decision to postpone the festival to a later date when the situation ultimately pacifies. If all goes well later in the year, full details of the November 2020 event in Cambodia will be released in August 2020.

Next: WPT Korea September 15 – 22, 2020

Despite the cancellations here and there, international poker players can look forward to the upcoming WPT Korea series happening this September 15 – 22, 2020. The scheduled event will be the next running series for the brand in the Asia-Pacific region. The festival will likewise be similar to the WPT Korea circuit two years ago featuring a Main Event with a buy-in of KRW 1,650,000 (~USD 1,354).

The past Main Event was a success with Tadashi Takei claiming the victory title and a lofty prize of KRW108,170,000 (~US$90,582). Attracting a total of 350 entrants, the event garnered a prize pool of US$425,896.

Assuming that the pandemic will be resolved by then, the approaching WPT Korea circuit is expected to follow its initial success and essentially uphold the premier brand’s overall reputation.
