Vietnam Poker Games to Host Live Poker Festival in Ho Chi Minh City this November

Chips will once again be flying in Ho Chi Minh City as the Vietnam Poker Games reignites the city’s live poker scene this November with an 11-day series at the Sai Gon Poker Room. The days of vibrant card action in the city formerly known as Sai Gon may seem to be from a past life, but a revival is on the horizon from November 1 to 11, 2024.

The brand was founded in 2019 and it is a member of the Poker Tournament Union (PTU). Recently announced by the brand, CEO Anh Nguyen shared his vision for the upcoming stop.

“Many players have expressed how much they’ve missed poker events in Sai Gon and because of this, Vietnam Poker Games is thrilled to answer that call with the VPG Ho Chi Minh festival from 1 to 11 November. Vietnam Poker Games 2024 Ho Chi Minh

Recognized for its daring drive, Vietnam Poker Games comes out with a bold lineup of 35 tournaments and VND 25 Billion in guaranteed prize pools. Events expected to draw big crowds are the Madness Kick Off, Mini Main Event, Monster Stack, and of course, the headliner, the VND 6 Billion (~USD $241,500) guaranteed Main Event.

Main Event VND 6 Billion Guaranteed

The crown jewel on the schedule features a buy-in of VND 16.5 Million (~USD $664) with four flights available from November 7 to 9. All survivors return for Day 2 on November 10 and determine a winner on the final day of the festival.

From October 10 to 31, players can win their entry to the VPG Sai Gon Main Event via live satellites in Nha Trang with daily qualifiers for an entry fee of VND 1.85 Million (~USD $75). During the live series, numerous further qualifiers will take place in Sai Gon with the same price tag, in which one out of every ten entries will award the Main Event seat.

High Roller Events

Players with deeper pockets are also covered during the festival as well and not just with a few events. The schedule lists eleven High Roller tournaments running throughout with buy ins ranging from VND 11 Million (~USD $443) to VND 66 Million (~USD $2,656). Of course, the famous Super Star Challenge (VND 1.5 Billion guaranteed) and the Super High Roller (VND 2 Billion guaranteed) will be the hottest tickets as these are certain to draw elite fields of local Vietnamese poker pros.

It all kicks off with the High Roller Open on the first day of the series, which comes with a price tag of VND 22 Million (~USD $885) and guarantee of VND 80 Million (~USD $32,200). The aforementioned Super Star Challenge runs from November 2 to 3 and the entry will come at a cost of VND 55 Million (~USD $2,214) for the second most expensive tournament on the schedule.

Event #14 All Star High Roller will run from start to finish on November 5 and comes with a price tag of VND 33 Million (~USD $1,328). One day later, Event #17 High Roller Special 6 Max doubles the required buy-in amount to VND 66 Million (~USD $2,656) and will certainly provide fireworks at the tables thanks to the short-handed format. Last but not least, the VND 44 Million (~USD $1,771) Super High Roller is scheduled for the tail end of the series on November 10 and 11.

Event Packages

On top of all the exciting live poker action, two different early bird packages are offered by the event organizers for the upcoming live poker series in Sai Gon as well:

The Main Event package comes with four nights in a deluxe room for VND 26 Million whereas the High Roller package includes the entry fees for four different tournaments (Event #4 Super Star, Event #14 All Star HR, Event #17 HR Special and Event #24 High Roller) as well as six nights of accommodation at a total price of VND 181.5 Million.

Both packages include pick-up and drop-off at the airport, daily breakfast for two people and a Main Event bubble protection. The High Roller packages are limited to 25 in quantity on a first come first serve basis. All reservations and payments must be completed before the start of the event to take advantage of all perks.
