Anh Dung Trinh ships High Roller: The Finale victory
Featuring another VN₫ 4 Billion (~US$ 162K) guarantee, the High Roller: The Finale drew in a total of 179 (121 unique) entries across twelve levels of registration, with only 27 players meriting a share of the VN₫ 10 Billion (~US$ 411K) pot. Down to the last four tables, the money bubble burst with Hasung Lee falling one spot short of the money after losing a flip against Nguyen Trung Ha for his last three big blinds. With all players left guaranteed a profit, play stretched out another three hours before the final table was set.
Malaysia’s Tan Kean Wei entered the final round with the lead but was quickly overtaken by Duc Tu Bui by the first few deals. The local runner managed to bust Billionaire Club Challenge champion Konstantin Held in a crucial flip for a third of the chips in play. Bui continued his run good and delivered two more eliminations – Roman Altynikov (7th) and Jun Jie He (5th), in following. Anh Dung Trinh however, nearly caught up to the table captain after Bui paid him in full with K♥Q♦ on board 10♣10♦J♥3♠6♥ against his K♠K♣.
Still with the lead, Bui recovered quickly having delivered back to back eliminations, beginning with Tan Kean Wei’s fall in 4th place. Tan’s Q♠J♦ landed him in trouble on board Q♦6♣4♥5♣4♦, with Bui’s A♣A♦ crushing his opponent’s top pair all the way through. Bui continued his dominance and finished off Dinh Tri Tran’s short stack to gain over a 2:1 advantage into heads up play.
In great shape to take it down, it only took Trinh one massive pot to even out the field and eventually turn the tables. Bui failed to recover after getting his top pair 10♥4♠ entangled against Trinh’s Q♣Q♠ on a ten high flop. The final hand came up just twenty minutes later with Trinh taking the victory with Q♦10♥ against Bui’s K♠4♥ on board 6♣9♦Q♣A♦A♥.
