Inaugural Jin Bei Cup Promises Huge Short Deck Action With $5 Million Guarantee
When it comes to new innovations who have taken the world of poker by storm throughout the last few years, most card aficionados will likely mention two things: Mystery Bounty tournaments and Short Deck Hold’em. They have gained widespread popularity all over the world due to their exhilarating action and thrilling key moments during the events.
It comes thus as no surprise that a new tournament series dedicated to the Short Deck variant will be taken place in the Kingdom of Cambodia. The inaugural Jin Bei Cup Poker Tournament is just around the corner and runs from May 7 to 9, 2024, at the luxurious Jin Bei Palace Hotel, situated on the southern tip of the country in Sihanoukville.
The inaugural Jin Bei Cup features three high roller tournaments. On May 7, a $5,300 Single-Day NLH tournament kicks off the activities before the marquee event awaits on the very next day. On May 8 to 9, the first-ever Jin Bei Cup Short Deck Main Event comes with a staggering buy-in of $53,000 and massive guaranteed prize pool of $5 million. Closing it out is a $10,600 Hyper Turbo NLH.
Jin Bei Cup $5 Million guarantee
The organizers have already set up some cornerstones of what shapes up to be one of the most action-packed Short Deck tournaments in the history of the variant. Winner of the Jin Bei Cup Short Deck Main Event is guaranteed a minimum of $1.5 million while the second place ($800,000) and third place ($600,000) finish will also be rewarded with a handsome payout as well. Furthermore, it is already known that at least the top 12 spots will be paid.
According to the Jin Bei Poker website, the flagship tournament will include “some of the biggest names and most dynamic action players in the poker world” with none other than Tom Dwan at the forefront. The cherry on top is also rather obvious as event takes place at a location known for its unparalleled hospitality with beautiful beaches and stunning islands close nearby.
The marquee Jin Bei Cup Short Deck Main Event will follow all the traditional rules of the latest craze in online and live poker. The event is played with 36 cards in the Hold’em Deck as all cards numbered from two to five are removed – the ace plays as low and high, and a flush beats a full house.
All players start with 300,000 in chips, representing two bullets of 150,000 each for 300 antes each in the opening level. The tables will be six-handed throughout until the unofficial final table of seven and all levels last 30 minutes each. Registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the end of Day 1, which concludes with the completion of 12 levels.
Further information including an early bird promotion and the official players guide have not been released yet but that will certainly be the case in the very near future.
