Wei sends Morikawa to below average

Barely a few hands after vanquishing Filipino Ruben Clamares, Japan's Yuta Morikawa is once again in the news but this time as a donor to Singapore's Wei Amos Yi Zhu.


It was short-stacked fellow Singaporean Giam Jian Hui who raised from the HJ to 2,500 and got a call from Ryoya Inokuchi of Japan and Wei but Morikawa squeezed from the BB for 12,500.


Giam and Inokuchi folded but Wei called.


The flop is 3 5 8 and the action went check-check.


The turn produces the K as Morikawa checked a second time. This time, Wei takes over the betting lead for 10,000. Morikawa still calls.


The river shows the J . Again Morikawa checks and is met with a shove from Wei. Morikawa eventually throws his hand into the muck.


Wei breaks into six figures in holdings with the triumph.
