Andersson Builds Stack So Near the End of Day

Mingcong Chen opened from the hi-jack to 2,400 and got called by Quang Kiem Nguyen. Mikael Andersson in the small blind had other plans and raised the ante to 10,000. Not being able to take the heat, Chen folded. Quang Nguyen called, to see a flop.
Andersson led out with 9,000 on the flop of 7♦ 2♥ 7♥ which Quang Nguyen called.
Slowing a bit, on the turn 6♠ , Andersson checked allowing Quang Nguyen to shove all-in for his tournament life, which Andersson called.
Quang Kiem Nguyen: K♥ T♥
Mikael Andersson: 8♣ 8♥
Andersson had two-pair with the paired board but Quang Nguyen had a flush draw and two over cards to draw too.
Alas, it was not to be. The dealer dealt 2♦ finishing his run so close to the end of the day.

Nguyen Tan Phuong Doubles Up Twice

With only a quarter of his starting stack remaining, Nguyen Tan Phuong needed a double-up to stay alive in the tournament.
Phuong opened under-the-gun for 900 and was called by Bharti Harsh in the big blind. The flop came down 2♣ 9♠ 2♠ .
Phuong checked to Harsh, who bet 300. Phuong called, and both players checked the K♦ turn. On the river, the 6♦ fell, and Phuong let Harsh lead out with a 1,200-chip bet.
Phuong then raised to 4,900. Harsh called, only to see Phuong reveal a boat—three deuces and two sixes—crushing Harsh’s hand. Harsh mucked, and Phuong scooped the pot with a smile.
A couple of hands later, Dinh Tien Thanh opened to 700 in middle position and received three calls—Harsh on the button, Nguyen Tan Phuong in the small blind, and Mikael Andersson in the big blind.
The flop came down 2♥ 6♦ 4♠ . Phuong led out for 1,900, and Andersson called, while Harsh and Thanh folded, leaving the blinds heads-up.
The turn brought the T♣ , and Phuong fired again, this time for 2,200. Andersson raised to 40,000, putting Phuong’s remaining stack at risk and forcing him to go all-in.
Nguyen Tan Phuong: 8♠ 8♦
Mikael Andersson: 5♥ 4♦
The river came down 6♠ , giving both players two-pair. However, Phuong’s eights topped Andersson’s fours, earning him the pot and a crucial double-up. With this boost, Phuong now had enough chips to continue building his stack and stay in the tournament longer.

Suchart Turns Ace Against Andersson's Eights

Angunsri Suchart limped from under-the-gun and got a raise from Mikael Andersson. Vu Tuan Khanh Truong called from the button but after the blinds folded, Suchart, at risk, shoved all-in for 13,600. Andersson called and Truong got out of the way for a showdown.
Angunsri Suchart: A♣ 7♦
Mikael Andersson: 8♦ 8♣
Andersson gave a smile knowing he was ahead but needed to evade an ace on the board. The flop dropped 2♥ T♦ 6♠ which was a releif for Andersson. But the turn A♥ dashed his hopes as he knew his eights were beat. The T♠ river gave both players a two-pair with Suchart still winning the hand.
