COVID-19: J88PT Philippines postponed

Due to the ongoing concerns around the Coronavirus (COVID-19) a lot of travel restrictions and event cancellations are in place across different industries mainly in Asia.

The prestigious Triton SHR Series Jeju that was scheduled for early February had been postponed until further notice and APL Da Nang (19th to 28th February) had been fully cancelled.

The World Poker Tour had announced with a heavy heart that they would take a break from Asia for a few months until there is a better picture about the spread and dangers of the virus. The WPT cancelled the 2nd Season XVIII WPT Vietnam event and postponed the inaugural WPT Taiwan event to May 14 to 24.

The most recent poker event cancellation comes from the J88PT. In an official statement J88Poker informs their players that their March event will be postponed until further notice.

The J88PT Philippines 2020 was originally scheduled for 24th to 29th March 2020 at the APF Poker Room, Sheraton Manila Bay.

“We are sad to announce that due to the situation with coronavirus all over Asia we have decided that the best would be to postpone our March event – J88PT Philippines. The safety of the participants is the priority for us and it would be completely irresponsible from our side to hold J88PT in March. We will never risk the health of our event participants! We take it very seriously and will not set the dates of J88PT Philippines until the situation sees improvements.
We apologize on a late notice and hope for your understanding.
Please take care of yourself and your family!

J88Poker CEO Luis Kim”

The J88PT Philippines was expected to attract a lot of participants from South Korea, which has been particularly affected by the Coronavirus over the past few weeks with over 2300 cases reported in total. Travel restrictions between the Philippines and South Korea are currently progressively implemented.

Somuchpoker has been reporting about the affected poker events over the past couple of months and we are dedicated to keeping you up to date as much as we can.
