APT Vietnam: There is a life outside of the poker room

Taking part in a poker festival is not only about playing!

The Asian Poker Tour have always tried to bring their events to life by organising social events to enrich the experience of participating in the festival. This vision of poker creates a sense that the tournaments aren't the absolute focal point, even if you bust out of them early, you can still have a great week, and the venue is key to that. According to first player's feedbacks, with everything it has to offer, the Grand Ho Tram Strip seems to be a great choice for the first APT event hosted in Vietnam and a promising venue for a poker vacation experience.

The Grand Ho Tram Strip  and Poker

The entire resort is still relatively young, having opened its doors as the first top class casino resort in Vietnam, just two years ago with 541 rooms. Initially there were complications after the initial launch when MGM walked away from the project, and after a few tentative attempts to organise low buy in tournaments, the former management gave up on poker.

Bad Beats seems to have a different taste during this APT Vietnam

Last November, Asian Coast Development Ltd and gaming operator Pinnacle installed Shaun McCamley as President, with a new CEO too. There are now 90 gaming tables, of which 55 are VIP tables. Following the change in management, a new partner for poker operations stepped forward, in the form of World Gaming Group, who are now in charge of poker at the casino. From that point on, Ho Tram began to align itself with poker, with the Asian Poker Tour stopping for the first time in Vietnam.

Offering More Than Poker

With a fresh perspective from new management comes a whole new approach, and that can be seen in the way that Ho Tram markets itself as a poker players dream location, with the inclusion of golf. The golf course – The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip – which is situated on its doorstep was designed by former world number 1 golfer, Greg Norman. This works alongside a beautiful ocean view, with a swimming pool to create a holiday resort feel, rather than just a simple casino.
