WPTDeepStacks Hanoi: Warm Up Event opens with 89 entries; two flights remain; Tạ Khánh Linh wins the Deepstack Turbo

Opening day at the inaugural WPTDeepStacks Hanoi engaged the crowd with two events running at host venue Crown Poker Club. The Warm Up Event VNđ 1.5 billion (~US$ 65,065) guaranteed was the most sought after with 89 entries while the Deepstack Turbo closed with Tạ Khánh Linh locking up the win. With one day in the books, there are still nine days of games to enjoy. Highlighting the series is the Main Event VNđ 4 billion (~US$ 173,500) guaranteed which takes place from April 21 to 25. Make sure to check the schedule for all the details.

The Warm Up Event is the first of four tournaments extending a guarantee. It kicked off on opening day with 89 entries across two flights. The earlier Day 1A heat drew 70 entries and the afternoon Day 1B heat attracted 19 entries. Both bagged up at ITM for a combined 11 players advancing to Day 2. Day 1A chip leader Nguyễn Ngọc Đại is currently ahead with 432,000 in chips.

The evening Deepstack Turbo saw 27 jump on board and after five hours of play, Tạ Khánh Linh emerged victorious to earn VNđ 40,000,000 (~US$ 1,735) and the first festival win. Linh would have earned more however the final five players opted to award fifth place a VNđ 4,400,000 return which was taken from each of the four payouts. With no prior live scores, this may well have been Linh’s first ever cash. He also set the pace in the Player of the Series race.

Player of the Series

The Player of the Series race is officially underway with the top four players of the Deepstack Turbo kicking off the leaderboard. To earn points, players will have to reach top 10 ITM at any of the numbered WPTDS Hanoi events. At the end of the series, the player with the most points accrued will be awarded the US$ 1,500 WPT Passport and Trophy. Other awards are as follows:
