In the fascinating world of poker, reporting the latest news on a daily basis is an honour which is always exciting. Despite that fact, we have chosen to look backwards today instead of examining what’s going on right now, as we celebrate 3 years of Somuchpoker.
Our goal has always been to support the growth of poker in the Asia-Pacific region while providing a steady stream of high-quality content which informs and entertains our readers.
The celebration of an anniversary is always a good time to show gratitude to those who made everything possible, and in our case, those people are numerous. We have partners, readers, writers, poker enthusiasts, those who edit and publish the material produced, and a fantastic following of players within the poker world who place their trust in us.
The best way to mark this milestone is to take a closer look at the pivotal moments that shaped Somuchpoker…
March 2014 – The first edition of our website is launched, which is quite basic and only manages to publish a limited amount of content. There is a Vietnamese version of the site, but this is eventually retired.
November 2014 – The second edition of Somuchpoker’s website is launched, with a major overhaul of many aspects of the page. The staff involved continues to expand, as does the coverage of events, both in Asia and other parts of the world. One of the important changes is the addition of a live poker section, which helps our readers find the best live games going on across Asia.
December 2014 – Somuchpoker reports on an event live for the first time in Manila, with Vietnamese national Huy Pham going on to win that APT Poker Finale RWM Main Event.
May 2015 – Vietnam hosts its first event of international significance. The Grand Ho Tram Strip hosts APT Vietnam during this month, and Somuchpoker reports on the action as David Steicke, Sam Razavi and Bryan Huang all final table the Main Event. The eventual winner is Kwan Kit Kwok.

December 2015 – The International Poker Open once again sees Somuchpoker jetting across to get up close to the action in Manila. We add some high-quality photography to our content for this event, and we also secure an interview with the winner of the Main Event – Lester Edoc. This is followed up with a more in-depth interview a few months later.
January 2016 – We have the honour of covering the Triton Super High Roller Series in its inaugural outing. This event runs alongside the WPT Manila, allowing us the opportunity to provide some excellent poker coverage for the website. Some of the biggest names in the world of poker are in town, with Fedor Holz, taking the top prize of over $3,000,000. This win is the first in a sequence of huge scores for Holz, as he goes on the most incredible live tournament run in poker history.
March 2016 – The official Somuchpoker Youtube channel gets underway. We start producing short videos and look at key moments in poker history, accumulating 700,000 views along the way.

August 2016 – Somuchpoker is on the move once again, as we travel to Mainland China for the first ever Asia Poker League event in Beijing. We get a first-hand view of how poker is faring in China, and we also further develop the Chinese version of our website.
November 2016 – Somuchpoker attends the Triton Super High Roller Series once again as it unveils its third festival. Daniel Cates manages to take down the opening event, with Wai Kin Yong capturing the Main Event title. The elusive Tom Dwan also makes an appearance, prompting Somuchpoker to create a video about his return, which gets 170,000 views.
