The World Poker Tour announces first-ever event in India

Ever since the World Poker Tour was acquired by Ourgame International Holdings, Ltd. a Hong Kong listed corporation, the well-known poker brand has been very active in developing the poker market in Asia, most especially in China with sold out events held in Sanya and Beijing.

Last year, the WPT expanded its market base even further by teaming up with Adda52.com, one of India’s largest Indian online poker sites. The highly popular site not only has a massive clientele base but has also held various well-attended live events – the Deltin Poker Tour – in collaboration with the Deltin Royale. Just hours ago, the partnership has come to fruition with the WPT announcing its first-ever event in India, the WPTDeepStacks India to be held on November 7-13, 2017 at the floating Deltin Royale Casino in Goa, India. The floating casino has the largest poker room in the country.

This latest news will surely send waves of excitement throughout the country’s poker community, which is currently experiencing a poker boom. The WPTDeepStacks India will be a very special event with a US$1,000 buy-in Main Event and the crowning of the first-ever WPT India Player of the Year.

In addition to earning points at the WPT event towards the WPT POY award, players can also accrue through two other events, both are DPT Goa Main Events scheduled earlier in the year. The first one is on July 20th-24th and the next one is on September 6th-11th. Both events have a buy-in of US$540 each. More qualifier events may be announced later. The WPT POY winner will be awarded US$5,000 credits worth of WPT events and various DPT events. Angelica Hael, VP of Global Tour Management, expressed,

“With a burgeoning poker community in a country with a population of more than 1.3 billion, India is one of the most important territories in the global poker landscape. Together with our partner Adda52.com, the WPT looks forward to not only sharing the WPT experience through the expansion of WPTDeepStacks to the region, but also giving Indian players incremental value with the WPT India Player of the Year award.”

With the WPT now entering the arena, Indian players can expect top quality poker events equipped with international standards.
