The WPT is once again set to arrive at the Philippines, with the Solaire Casino having been named as host for the event. The scheduled tournaments will include lower rebuys compared to last time, but with re entries for many, there should still be very healthy prize pools to compete for. Side events will also be running with the same reduced buy ins. This time around, the main event has a planned USD$1,650 buy in and the high roller will be USD$7,000 to play.
Another change will be the $1K Solaire Poker Cup event, which should be organized at the beginning of the schedule. Here are the following dates for the events to the best of our knowledge. Be aware that the schedule is not set in stone yet, and so these may change. 9th -11th August, Solaire Cup. 11Th – 12th August, High Roller. 13Th – 17th August, Main Event. These WPT dates do clash with the APT Cebu as things stand, so players keen on playing one or both of these, keep an eye out for any schedule changes in the coming weeks.
After Tetsuya Tsuchikawa who will be the next WPT champion?
Hopefully the WPT National Philippines will exceed the turnout of last year, where 385 players bought into the Main Event. It was Tetsuya Tsuchikawa from Japan who last year bested the field to win USD$156,849 and the coveted title.
