Although he is not a young man, the career of Huidong Gu is still very much in it’s infancy. Born in Macau, Gu has only been taking live tournaments seriously since May 2014, but his results have certainly been impressive.
May 2014 saw Huidong Gu post his first cash on the APPT, when he finished 6th in a side event in Macau, for USD$8,243. He followed this up just a week later, with an impressive USD$50,040 win for 6th place at the APPT High Roller in Macau. In January 2015, Gu traveled to Australia to compete in the Aussie Millions, and took 4th place in the 6 max event, for almost USD$35,000. Just a few months later, at the Monte Carlo stop on the EPT 11 tour, he another 4th place in an 8 handed turbo event, for a further USD$41,751. Less than a month later, and APPT Macau once again provided Huidong Gu with a good score, as he managed 10th place in the Main Event, for USD$23,901. The 23rd Macau Poker Cup on the APPT saw Gu add yet another solid cash to his list, when he took 9th place in the High Roller, banking USD$28,836 for his deep run.
While he is not one of the most renowned players in Asia, Huidong Gu has so far shown remarkable consistency in his results, enjoying his best results in his native territory of Macau.
