– GENERAL INTRODUCTION –

Devan Tang is a poker player from Hong Kong, China with over a decade of experience in live tournaments. He ranks 184th in the All-Time Money List with total live earnings of $6,999,506.

Tang earned his debut title in 2009 with back-to-back 1st place finishes in the Macau Poker Cup Championship. He took down the Main Event for $93,875 in winnings, supplemented by $10,263 for his win at the tournament’s side event.

He continued grinding the poker tournament scene in Macau until he made his next big score in November 2011. Tang bagged the 2nd place at a High Roller event of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) for $117,698.

The following year, he eclipsed the win with a whopping $998,589 scoop for placing 2nd at the Manila Millions event of APT Manila. The huge win may have allowed Tang some down time as it took over a year for him to score another victory. In October 2013, Tang won $472,892 for a runner-up finish at the Main Event of the APPT Asia Championship of Poker in Macau.

Not much happened again until in January 2016, Tang mustered another terrific win of $1,405,500 – his best live cash to date – for placing 3rd in the Triton Super High Roller event of the WPT held in the Philippines. He closed out the year with two titles won in Macau and a total of $1,815,979 in total earnings.

In 2019, Tang clinched the Short Deck Ante Only event of the Triton Poker Super High Roller series in Jeju, Korea for $1,239, 758. This win book-ended a solid, steady stream of six-figure scores from 2017 to 2019.

Tang seemed to hold back in 2022. Despite making multiple final tables, these were for much smaller prize pools than he is usually known to play. Nevertheless, he began 2023 on a positive note by winning the Main Event of the Poker Dream Malaysia 2023 for $123,420.

It remains to be seen whether another million-dollar payday is in Tang’s near horizon.
