BetMGM MI Poker Launches

PokerStars will get some company in Michigan – by none other than the partypoker powered BetMGM. PokerStars has been dominating the market since their launch end of January and now there will be a good old duel setting off in the state.

Michigan has a population of 9.9 million and has been showing great potential for online poker operators. The PokerStars MICOOP had more participants than similar events in any other state in the country. BetMGM Michigan Sports and Casino went live in January 2021 already and now the poker side of things has been launched, too.

“The demand for online poker in Michigan was made clear by players across the state. [We’re] proud to offer them a seat at our tables”, BetMGM director of poker Ray Stefanelli said in a press release.

Michigan will be a whole new ballgame for the competition between PokerStars and partypoker. While PokerStars is firmly in the seat of the industry leader in most other countries in the world, the US is a fairly fresh playing ground, at least in newly licenced states.

New PPPoker security features

PPPoker

The world’s biggest mobile poker room, PPPoker, has informed the poker community about a security update for “creating a fair and safe environment for all players.” The measures they introduced in this update are as follows:

  • Club administrators can turn on Captcha at their tables and players have to randomly pass the security tests in order to keep playing.
  • An Auto Interception System is running 24/7 to monitor the tables with different indicators of player behavior to identify collusion and bots.
  • Table joining restrictions, like only being able to play on mobile, having to link an email address to the account and Geo restrictions.

Mobile poker apps become more and more like the big poker sites when it comes to security. This is a great development as the main issue these sites have been having so far was the security concerts by the players.

$750,000 for poker.net domain

poker.net domain

It’s the biggest ever .net domain purchase in history, a record broken by poker – who would have thought? Poker still is in the hearts of many people around the world as it seems, so it is far from dead.

The domain name “poker.net” was purchased for $750,000 by ADX Labs, a technology company in Minnesota. If this purchase is a mere investment for future buyers or if there are plans for this domain to be used for some exciting poker venture remains to be seen.

It is in any case a good sign for the popularity of that game we all love so much.
