Natural8-WSOPC: Charles “TheMadQueen” La Boissonniere & JuanMartinDelPotro54 win WSOP Rings; Fedor Holz joins GGPoker

With players worldwide easily transitioning to online platforms, the World Series of Poker has done the same. Though this was not the brand’s first venture into the virtual arena, it was their first at the GG Network Natural8.

Over the course of three weeks running from May 3 to 31, are 18 WSOPC Online Series Ring Events, an endless line up of side events, and a massive $ 100 million guarantee. This may well be the largest online series ever staged. The $ 1K buy in Main Event comes with a jaw dropping $ 5 million guarantee. Satellites and Ring Event Day 1 games have been running since the announcement was made in mid-April. Last night, the first two WSOPC Ring winners were awarded to Charles “TheMadQueen” La Boissonniere and JuanMartinDelPotro54.

Also just announced, GGPoker signed German superstar Fedor Holz as its newest brand ambassador and partnered up with Pokercode. We’ve got all those stories for you below including what’s up next at the WSOPC Online Series, and Natural8 promos.

Event #1: Covid Charity $1M GTD

The Covid Charity $1M GTD event is the first WSOPC Ring Event of the online series. Due to the ongoing crisis worldwide, the goal was to raise funds for the Nevada Community Foundation’s Covid 19 Emergency Response Fund. Ten percent of the $ 1,111 buy in was to be donated. With 1,595 contributing to the cause, a substantial $ 177K was pooled. After 13 hours of play, Canadian player Charles “TheMadQueen” La Boissonniere emerged victorious to claim the $ 269,367 first prize.

There was no shortage of notable players looking to score the first WSOP ring. Among them were recently signed GG Poker Ambassadors Fedor Holz and Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier, Matthias Eibinger, tennis pro Boris Becker, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Felipe Ramos. Only Becker would cash in on 153rd place.

The final table was formed after a double bust at ten remaining. At separate tables, Monkey D Luffy and Ben Carson bit the bullet leaving a smaller final table of 8 players. The chips were spread out among six players while the other two needed help. Short stacked FeelsGTOman was first to depart, railed by tiredfella. This in turn gave tiredfella the chip lead. Joji123 stole the top spot by sending the other shorty zagzig out next.

At this point, the leader began to tumble while TheMadQueen and Igutu soared. TheMadQueen was first to crack the leader’s stack with a double up, then Igutu did the same sending Joji123 under 3 bbs which TheMadQueen proceeded to take. TheMadQueen shipped a second stack, railing tiredfella in 4th place with A-K over A-Q. Igutu finished off asonthe river in 3rd place to enter heads up nearly 4:1 ahead of TheMadQueen. The players immediately struck a deal and resumed to find the winner. TheMadQueen quickly doubled up twice for a switch up in stack. TheMadQueen went on to win it with Ac6c flush over Kh8h two pair.
