Matt Kirk’s horrendous run at the partypoker’s “The Big Game” goes viral

At partypoker’s The Big Game’ Matt Kirk has been giving the poker world a reminder of what truly hideous runs of bad luck look like. His misfortune has now reached beyond the realms of the poker community, having gone viral on Reddit, and other forums.

One viewer decided to trawl through all Kirk’s televised hands during The Big Game to put together a compilation of his bad beats and lost pots. The video ended up almost two hours in length, showing hand after hand of Kirk coming up short in a $500/$1,000/$2,000 PLO cash game. As you might expect at these stakes, the Australian pro suffered catastrophic losses of over $4.7 million.

In an interesting twist, much of this lost money ended up in the hands of a player that Kirk has had previous dealings with. Leon Tsoukernik was recently embroiled in a legal dispute with Kirk, in which Kirk sued Tsoukernik for an alleged unpaid debt of $2 million. The two appear comfortable enough with each other’s company to sit at the same table.

The Australian undoubtedly ran badly during the session, but he also made a few questionable calls too, misreading his hand once along the way too. Kirk was not the only player to endure a difficult hand or two. Sam Trickett also ran into Tsoukernik, losing a $763,000 pot to him during the PLO sessions.
