IPO3 Side Event Winners: Tech and Hao with two titles

A successful poker series would not be complete without the added festivities of side events. At the International Poker Open 3 at Resorts World Manila, Philippines, the schedule had a slew of side events for players to fill their poker needs throughout the week. Although the High Roller event was cancelled, the other games were a full systems go.

Here is a recap on all the winners claiming trophies at the series:

As reported, Team Philippines took control of the Four Countries Team Competition opening event with John Tech at the helm. Tech would claim another title, a personal one, after winning the Beauty and the Beast KO Bounty event.

Joining him in claiming two titles was Chen Hao from China who won the Pot Limit Omaha Hi event and the AllnewPoker Challenge PLO event.

Other players who got very close to winning two titles but ended up claiming one instead by falling short in second place, were SJ Kim from Korea and Phan Phuc Duc from Vietnam. Kim won the second event of the series, the NLH Turbo, but lost to Filipino player Don Carmona at the heads up round of the NLH Turbo event two days later. As for Duc, he was the last man standing at the AllnewPoker Challenge Open Face Chinese Pineapple event but lost last minute steam against Hao at the AllnewPoker Challenge PLO event. Players Pham Ngoc Quoc Bao (Vietnam), Luo Xi Xiang (China), Linh Tran (Canada), and Duc Bien Nguyen (Vietnam) all bagged one trophy each as well.

Hong Kong’s Sparrow Cheung was active at the side events, landing himself in several final tables until he finally claimed a trophy after defeating Andrew Shanahan at the heads up round of the Pot Limit Omaha Hi event.

Out of all the winners, Russian Player Andrei Dementev stands as an exception with having earned a title at the AllnewPoker Challenge KO Bounty, and now has a chance to claim another, the biggest one of all, the Main Event championship title and trophy.

Congratulations to all the side event winners! There is one more side event on deck, the Six-Handed event, running side-by-side the Final Table of the Main Event today.
